That was a long time ago; a delicious High Tea! I think the last time was with my sisters and mother when my sister went to try on wedding dresses and we went with her. Today I went with two girlfriends to Boekel in Noord-Brabant where we enjoyed a luxurious High Tea at Blizz and each other’s company! The new owners have beautifully decorated a separate room in fairy-like atmosphere as a Tearoom. Even more beautiful in real life than in the photos on the website!

Burgundian Brabant

The owner received us with Brabant cordiality. Yes, we have arrived in Burgundian Brabant! The Prosecco beforehand was with a special twist that I will not reveal here. Original! I chose, because I was BOB, the non-alcoholic version which was not inferior. Then we enjoyed a delicious homemade soup.

Delicious dishes

Time for a tier of savory and sweet treats. Wow, what diversity and abandon. Clearly made with love and displayed with colorful edible flowers here and there. In addition to the egg salad, we thought the lemon curd turned out very well and so did the scones. None of us had ever made the lemon curd so well ourselves at home, so it is very difficult we said to each other. The variety, the many small bites, the nine special tea flavors and each other’s company in the beautiful entourage made the time fly by. We had been there for over two hours!

Also if you are allergic

Allergies can be declared at Blizz, one of the two girlfriends who came along has a food intolerance. She reacts to chemical additives such as E numbers, colorings, fragrances, flavors and preservatives. So basically she has to eat pure natural foods. I wondered if it would be possible. Well and truly! She got her own special mini etagere on which were the same or look-a-likes of what the two of us got on the double etagere. She was pleasantly surprised and had plenty to enjoy as well! Compliments and thanks to the hospitality of Blizz!

Nice shopping after dinner

One tea reminded me of “Eau des merveilles” by Hermes. Chocolate and orange, of course I wanted to taste it. After another cup of tea and compliments to the owners, we went on looking around the Mouthoeve, of which Blizz is part. There are also very cute little stores there that we looked out onto when we parked the car in the spacious lot across from the entrance to Blizz. Very cute little mini stores. Flowers, nuts, crystals, jewelry, clothes, children’s toys and so on.

The Mouthoeve is a very good place to spend an afternoon, really a good concept! Go to Blizz first or finish at Blizz, you can do both. You should definitely order the scones with clotted cream and lemon curd! Thinking about going a few days in advance? Then book the High Tea, the owners really work at it and a ‘last-minute’ High Tea reservation is therefore not possible.

A successful outing!

We had a detour and a road closure and ended up spending two hours in the car to get there -next time we will check the roadworks before we book somewhere and then go on a weekend when the A50 is not blocked-, but it was worth the trip! We were able to spend three and a half hours in the car chatting delightfully with no kids around us and also the hours during the High Tea. So hop hop, hop in the car with your friends and go book something nice!
