Fall is the time to put on your warm coat and look for those really cozy getaways. And what could be cozier than a farmer’s market at this time of year? It’s the perfect time to stroll quietly past the stalls, a hot chocolate in your hands, while enjoying all the seasonal produce that makes autumn so delicious. We went in search of the best farmers markets that are definitely worth a visit.

Autumn in the Fields – Zuidvelde (Drenthe)

Autumn in the Fields can be visited on Oct. 19 and is full of stalls selling handmade local produce: from jams to artisan cheeses and hot stews. The venue is quiet and kid-friendly, with music and workshops. Space to wander, taste and enjoy local conviviality.

Stoofperenfeest – Ruinerwold (Drenthe)

The Dokter Larijweg, lined with stewing pear trees, attracts the Stoofperenfeest (Stewperen Festival) every year on the first Saturday of October (this year October 4). Pick your own stewing pears, discover food trucks with autumn treats and enjoy booths along the farms. Always a cozy, authentic experience.

Autumn Market Borger – Borger (Drenthe)

A fun outing on Saturday, Oct. 18, is the Autumn Market Borger, when dozens of stalls in the center of Borger offer their autumn goods: from home accessories and personal care products to local snacks. Small-scale, cozy and with something for everyone.

Around the Mill – Beilen (Drenthe)

On Saturday, November 22, the annual Autumn Fair continues around the Makkum Mill. Think lights, fire pits and stalls full of crafts. The mill itself will be open and special fall and winter products will be available.

Farmer’s market Losser – Losser (Overijssel)

From March to November, every last Saturday of the month, you can visit the Farmer’s Market in Losser. This market breathes the real farmers’ market atmosphere: no fuss, but genuine quality and heart-warming stories from the producers themselves.

Pure Nature Market – Wassenaar (Zuid-Holland)

For those who love organic produce, the Puur Natuur Markt in definitely recommended. Every last Saturday of the month from 10:00 to 17:00 you will find here at Het Kloosterland the best of what nature has to offer. Perfect for a day out towards the coast, because after the market you can always take a refreshing walk towards the beach.
