The period of many vacations and days off is upon us. And as fun as that is, sometimes it’s a challenge to come up with something fun to do. Especially if you have young children. So we went looking for the best places in the Netherlands where children can play, romp and expend all their energy.

1. Plaswijck park in Rotterdam

Looking for a combination of nature, games and water fun? Plaswijckpark in Rotterdam is the ultimate destination. Here kids can have fun in the playground, scramble in the climbing course and splash around in the water playground. With a zoo and miniature world to explore, there is always something new to discover here.

2. Molenwaard Adventure Farm in Groot-Ammers

Step into the magical world of Fien & Teun at Avonturenboerderij Molenwaard near Schoonhoven, where children can play, learn and participate in all sorts of fun, old Dutch activities. From cuddling animals on the farm, with your fingers in the soil in the vegetable garden to fun polders games and a tractor track. Don’t forget to take a ride in the horse arena and end the day with a delicious pancake!


3. Adventure City in Rotterdam

For an adventurous experience in the middle of the city, Adventure City in Rotterdam is the place to be. This indoor and outdoor climbing paradise offers a range of exciting activities for active kids of all ages. With as many as 12 different adventure routes, there is plenty to do here to release the energy of even the most active kids. 4. The Holle Bolle Boom in Tuitjenhorn

At The Holle Bolle Boom, it’s always a party! With an indoor playground, outdoor water park and indoor water attraction, there is no shortage of opportunities for kids to climb, clamber and splash around. And parents can relax while the little ones are having fun, because this tree is packed with entertainment for hours of fun.


5. Linnaeushof in Bennebroek

As the largest playground park in Europe, Linnaeushof guarantees an action-packed day of fun. With over 350 pieces of playground equipment ranging from swings to slides and water slides to climbing frames, there is something for every child to enjoy. And with special zones for different age groups, even the littlest ones can play safely and freely while older children have fun on the more challenging attractions.

6. Oud Valkeveen in Naarden

Tucked away on the shores of Lake Gooimeer is Oud Valkeveen, a spacious play park where children have been coming to play for more than 90 years. With 30 different attractions and play equipment, an indoor arcade, fun shows and even its own beach for swimming and playing, this is the perfect destination for an activity-packed day.


7. BillyBird in Volkel, Reuver and Drunen

Looking for a combination of adventure and water fun? Then visit one of the two recreational parks of BillyBird! The parks consist of a beach pool surrounded by a wide range of indoor and outdoor attractions such as roller coasters, play equipment, bumper cars, theaters, climbing parks and slides. And with several dining options at the park, you won’t have to worry about a growling stomach. Are your kids real water rats? Then visit the BillyBird outdoor swimming pool in Drunen.

8. Climbing forest Zeeland in Westenschouwen

For the adventurous energy bombs among us, Klimbos Zeeland is the ultimate destination. Here, active children can push their limits while scrambling, climbing and plunging among the trees. With different courses for all ages and skill levels, this is a great way to explore nature while staying active.
