How did Birgit experience the Prison Escape?

Some time ago we were locked in Breda’ s Koepelgevangenis to participate in the Real Life Gaming Prison Escape. This was quite an experience! In this series, everyone who was with us will have their say so you know how we experienced it. This time it is Birgit aka Kleine’ s turn!

With what attitude did you go into prison?

I didn’t really have an idea beforehand of what it would entail. We stood in front of the gate chatting, joking and checking our phones. But as soon as the doors opened, the game started immediately. I had no idea what to expect, so I went in as blank as possible.

What were your tactics?

Beforehand I had no tactics, but as soon as you enter the prison grounds, you are on edge. Who can be trusted? Who should you join and who is best to stay away from? I realized right away that this was going to be a spirited game!

What did you think when you were inside?

I was pretty impressed when I entered. That dome is really huge! The actors were totally in their roles, which made it very realistic.

And when the prison warden starts talking, it’s very real. It echoes all around you. I wanted to become invisible because I was terrified that I would have to do or say something. You really feel as if you have committed a terrible crime!

Is it so exciting all the time?

Fortunately, not all the time. Once you have found your cell and met your cellmate, the game actually begins. The cell’s doors reopen fairly quickly and then you get to walk around and look around everywhere. Even on the outside grounds.

Were you able to escape?

We managed to escape! It also really feels like liberation when you’re outside. We had to be a little quiet for the people around, but that’s hard when you’re super happy inside. Very funny was that to experience.

Would you recommend the Prison Escape to others?

Definitely! I would really recommend it to anyone! It’s something so different and something so special, you just have to experience it for yourself! And the location itself is really great too!
