Follow the story behind the Battle of Grolle. In the building where the escape room is located (right in the center of Groenlo, or: Grolle), at that time the resistance against the Spaniards, who at that time had ruled Grolle for 20 years. Your best friend Kobus comes with exciting news: Prince Frederik Hendrik wants to recapture Grolle!

A murder plot in which you are the key to saving

The entire city is surrounded by the Prince and his troops. But you find out that the leader of the Spaniards is plotting to kill Frederick Henry. The Prince must be warned! But the city is completely locked to repel the recapture. How do you make sure to warn Prince Frederick Henry in time? How can you save Grolle?

Fanatic escaperoom player Marieke, played the game and likes to share her experiences.

“I’m just going to get right to the point: this was really by far the BEST escape room so far! We actually walked through the house with open mouths the whole time and kept shouting: ‘This is really cool!’ Ferdi even gave us the thumbs up when he discovered a camera, he was so enthusiastic. You really have to play this escape room!

The story is bizarrely well put together and you really play a role in the story. The guys who built this escape room put soooo much time into it. The story comes straight out of history and you can clearly see that they have studied a lot of history books in order to do everything right. Super fun! The theme and story also fit the property perfectly. For once not a stuffy factory building, but really an old building in the center, with a great story.

You also notice this in the decoration. Because, wow, wow, wow, what does the escape room look like? As soon as the door opens, you find yourself in another time. They have thought about this so well and worked it out so beautifully. They told us at one point that they even removed the screws used to screw everything together, because they didn’t have them in those days… Ordinary nails were allowed to remain visible. Believe me, that makes our escape room heart beat faster!

And then, of course, the puzzles. Because no good escape room without good puzzles. Fortunately, escaperoom Groenlo has it all. As always I won’t give away too much, but the puzzles were fun, sometimes tricky and they fit perfectly in the story and the room. I will tell you that there are several twists and turns and a lot of surprising elements!

Yes, this escape room gets a big fat 9.5 and tops the list!
