Delicious lunch in De Lier

Taken on a trip
A while back I had a lunch date with Ingeborg. She took me to one of her favorite spots in Westland, Theetuin de Bongaard.
Visiting De Lier
She kept the location we were going to until the last minute exciting for me. I was instructed to come to the parking lot in front of the Jumbo in De Lier and wait for her there. Together we walked through the small, cozy shopping street of De Lier, where you could also find several nice lunches. Finally, we arrived at De Bongaard. And what a surprise that was. For De Bongaard is not just a restaurant, but a whole experience! It also houses the museum De Timmerwerf. They also sell the best products from the tea garden under the name Sister of the Bongaard.
The garden
Ingeborg leads me around the grounds. We first pass the museum. This is in a National Monument made available by the municipality to exhibit old carpentry and mill tools. Behind this building I find all the little cozy seats and corners, cheerfully decorated with colorful tables, cushions, flowers and other items. Once inside, the tea garden appears to consist of several seating areas. This makes everything look small and cozy with a very personal touch. Everywhere you find cute jars, pans, jam jars, cards, photos and more.
High tea, high wine or just a la carte
We are shown to our seat and given the menu. Ingeborg tells me that especially the high tea is the big crowd puller. Timely reservations are important because they are often fully booked weeks in advance. We are already preparing our summer outfit so we choose a salad very healthily. But that certainly doesn’t leave you sitting on a log! I get a tray full of all the healthy goodies. I even have to make an effort to empty my plate. In the conservatory near the kitchen, while we are enjoying our lunch, a baby shower is in progress. The employees of the Bongaard have extensively taken care of the table and decorated it with all kinds of cute blue accents. I know enough.
A visit to the Bongaard is definitely worth it!
