Out and about in Lansingerland with Sonja

The South Holland municipality of Lansingerland is a relatively young municipality created in 2007 by a merger of the B-triangle: Berkel en Rodenrijs, Bleiswijk and Bergschenhoek. And since this municipality is right around the corner from us, we decided to investigate here as well.

Lots of water

What strikes me when I walk around this B-triangle is the large amount of water. Bergschenhoek and Bleiswijk, for example, lie on the river De Rotte, but also in Berkel and Rodenrijs there are many houses along the water and there are bridges everywhere. This looks very cozy and village-like.

The different villages

Bleiswijk is a very green village where you can relax or be active. You can also relax in Wellnessresort Elysium. Bergschenhoek is a place where you can mainly find new houses, but you can also enjoy the greenery. And in Berkel en Rodenrijs you can enjoy a day of shopping and a pleasant terrace.

Recreational opportunities

The B Triangle is close to Rotterdam but has the village-like, green character of the countryside. This makes it a great place to enjoy a nice walk, a long bike ride or have fun by the water.

The Rottemeren

The Rottemeren is a large recreational area that falls under Lansingerland, Rotterdam and Zuidplas. The area includes the Hoge- and Lagebergse Bos, the Bleiswijkse Zoom, Het Nessebos, De Zevenhuizerplas and the Eendrachtspolder. There really is plenty to do here for all ages. You can canoe, there is a sailing school, you can play golf, horseback ride, water ski and climb.

Outdoor Valley

Do you live in the area and have an active child who can take a beating and doesn’t mind getting dirty? Then Adventure Club Outdoor Valley comes highly recommended. There, children can take on all kinds of obstacles under the guidance of a regular instructor. At Outdoor Valley it is also possible to ski, snowboard and tub. And for children who are not afraid of heights, the climbing club Monte Cervino is also great fun! Adults can also take a comprehensive climbing course here with the goal of being able to climb independently.

The garden of Vloddertje

For children, Lansingerland is a true discovery paradise. Between Berkel and Rodenrijs and Bergschenhoek you will find the Annie MG Schmidtpark. There you will find the Garden of Floddertje where children (including smaller children) can discover, explore and romp around. After a visit to the Garden of Floddertje they will be out of your hair! There is a cable car, stepping stones over the water, a raft and a rope bridge. Although the playground consists of three parts, it is easy to overlook. There are no catering facilities, but with a well-stocked picnic basket you can spend hours here. Clean toilets are in fact available.

Hennipgaarde

Near Zevenhuizen you will find the Eendrachtspolder. Here you will find play and exercise polder Hennipgaarde, which was devised by children. Here children can move around in the greenery and discover nature safely. There is a climbing hill, various crawl-through-creep-through routes, a maze, a water pump, a refreshing pool with slides, a barefoot path and a drawbridge. So wonderful for active and enterprising children.

Enjoy at the farm

Farm Lansingerland also has a lot on offer for a fun afternoon away. There is a petting zoo, a corn maze (in season) and a farm store with lots of organic products. Even more animal fun can be found in Bleiswijk at Dierenweide ‘t Ezelsbruggetje. Here you can ride donkeys and ponies, there is a large petting zoo and a nice playground.

Wellness

You can completely relax in Bleiswijk at Wellness Resort Elysium. You immediately enter a completely different atmosphere when you step inside. There are lots of saunas, you can enjoy a nice massage and you can have your skin taken care of during a beauty treatment. And all this in an environment with tropical waterfalls, Arabic atmospheres and delicious food. Do not forget to visit the Turkish Hamam, where you will be pampered with a delicious and special bathing ritual. You will return home reborn.

You can also be pampered in another way in Bleiswijk and Berkel en Rodenrijs. Namely at one of the two salons of Quinto Kappers. Here your hair gets a professional treatment and you step outside with a fresh cut. Lovely with the summer approaching!

Festivals

You can also enjoy fun festivals in Lansingerland. The culinary and musical Festival Opperdepop will take place on September 13 and 14. The Annie MG Schmidtpark will be extra fun with performances by Maan, Davina Michelle, Jan Smit, Nielson, Waylon and many more. Culinary delights include Ciocco & Gelato, Muller & Co and Brasserie Edelweiss. Also fun is Lansingerland Live. In 2020 you can celebrate this festival on June 12 and 13, also in the Annie MG. Schmidtpark.

Shopping

For shopping, Berkel en Rodenrijs is the place to be. You have an old and a new part there, but both are cozy. Here you will find the well-known chain stores such as Hema, Kruidvat and Etos, but there are also nice boutiques, cozy squares and terraces. The advantage of the village center of Berkel en Rodenrijs is that everything is very close together. Therefore, you can do everything within walking distance. Do not forget to take a terrace at Restaurant Annie or Brasserie Welkom. In short: Lansingerland is a lovely place to be!
