I am Susanne, owner of BitterSweetz in the Oude Molstraat in The Hague, where you can enjoy a delicious gluten-free, lactose-free, sugar-free lunch, cake or high tea. As a guest blogger for OpstapmetLisa I would like to take you to my city: The Hague. I know this cozy city through and through and give you tips to make it an unforgettable day out!

A day out, but just a little different

Anyone planning a day out in The Hague can already assume that one day is too short to see and visit everything. There is so much to do and see in our Hofstad. Still want to do everything in one day? Then these tips will take you a long way. For example, you can go to the Spui and from there walk further into the main shopping street with all the famous big chain stores. But wouldn’t it be much more fun to visit the lesser-known places in The Hague?

Starting point: Central Station

Central Station in The Hague is a good place to start your day in The Hague. There are many new tall buildings in The Hague. This automatically makes you look up more, but watch where you walk otherwise your Hague adventure will soon be over. From Central Station you have a nice walking route to the Plein. From there you can take a nice walk around the Hofvijver, where the trees form a beautiful avenue. This really makes you feel like you’re abroad for a while.

Hofvijver Den Haag

The Hofkwartier: a super nice neighborhood!

From the Hofvijver you get to the Lange Voorhout and the cozy Denneweg. This is a nice street for a stroll with nice, unusual stores. From the Lange Voorhout you enter the nicest area of The Hague: the Hofkwartier! In the Hofkwartier there are so many nice coffee shops and playful stores. You have all kinds of stores with the most delicious delicacies, stores with vintage stuff, skate shops and much more. One of my favorite spots is Lapsang on Oude Molstraat. To enjoy some fine small bites and tasty wine with a super atmosphere there is café De Oude Mol, also located in Oude Molstraat. Just around the corner is clothing and trinket store Wwen, to get greedy!

Casual dining in The Hague

To eat out nice and cozy, there is By J&M on Prinsestraat . It feels like you enter a cozy living room there and the food is freshly prepared. You can go there with different allergies just fine and they conjure up something delicious on the table. Which is nice, because I do have a few. A little further around the corner, on Torenstraat, is a nice authentic Mexican restaurant where they prepare simple but very tasty Mexican dishes. Restaurant Kua is a restaurant with a cozy atmosphere and friendly staff.

De Grote Markt Den Haag

Plenty of terraces!

When the weather is nice, there are plenty of terraces in The Hague, but the garden at Café Schlemmer is a great place for a nice glass of wine. You might run into a politician here, as this is the unofficial regular pub of the Lower House. Actors and artists have also completely discovered this café.

Not finished yet

I don’t know about you, but I’m far from finished in The Hague!
