Voorschoten

Regularly we highlight one of the beautiful places in the Netherlands to tell you what you can see and do. We often go out ourselves, but we also regularly ask an expert to give us some insider tips. This time we asked Lianne Buijs of Restaurant Hudson Voorschoten to give us some tips about ‘her’ Voorschoten.

The center of Voorschoten

Voorschoten has a cozy center. When you walk down the Schoolstraat you will come across all kinds of different stores. From the standard chain stores, to nice boutiques like Belle Boutique, Label by Label and gift store Pepijn. But especially the hospitality industry of Voorschoten has much more to offer than you might think.

Of course, Hudson Voorschoten is a restaurant you can’t miss. Not only because the restaurant is pontifically located in a beautiful location on the Schoolstraat forecourt, but also because it is a very atmospheric restaurant with delicious dishes and bites. And because you can find a cozy terrace on two sides of the oval restaurant, you can already enjoy sitting outside with the first rays of sunshine. But also inside it is very attractive and cozy and you can enjoy a nice lunch, cozy drinks or dinner.

But there is more delicious food to be found in Voorschoten. Restaurant Nayolie on the Kerkplein comes highly recommended. The food is good and they make very special dishes here. On the Voorstraat you will also find many different cozy restaurants, brasseries and lunchrooms. And on Fridays you can taste the local atmosphere here at the weekly market.

Even if you prefer to enjoy good food at home, I have a nice tip for you. In the Schoolstraat you will find butcher Arbouw Scharrelvlees. A very good organic butcher with delicious meat of excellent quality and a nice delicatessen store next door. Here you can always find something tasty for your home.

Out and about

Want to see a little more of Voorschoten than just the city center? Then get out and about.

Voorschoten has its own castle: Kasteel en landgoed Duivenvoorde. This castle comes from the 13th century and is still inhabited. You can visit the castle, take a walk in the park, or visit one of the concerts that are regularly organized here.

But you can also have fun at recreation area Vlietland (popularly called the Vlietlanden) which is right next to Voorschoten. Here you can play in the water amusement park, clamber in the climbing park, canoe, sail or surf on the water or enjoy hiking, mountain biking or horseback riding.

Fun events

Fun events are also regularly organized in Voorschoten that are definitely worth visiting! For example, in July you can always enjoy the pleasant Voorschoten Horse Days and the Weekend of Voorschoten which is held in September is also great fun! In short, Voorschoten is really a vibrant city!

Greetings,
