The evenings are getting longer: time for game night!

Are you a games person? Then this blog is for you! The evenings are gradually getting longer again and that simply calls for coziness. Think together on the couch with a blanket and a good book or watching a movie with a drink and a good glass of wine. But what is perhaps even more fun and convivial is an old-fashioned game night! In this blog we give you tips for board games that have been a success for a long time and new games. Because game makers like Jumbo Play also move with the times.
Cozy classics for your game night
Classic board games are actually always a hit on your game night. They are classic for a reason and have been played by families and friends for years. The advantage of the classics is that everyone is already familiar with the game rules and the game can start right away. Because let’s face it: some game rules are quite difficult to understand. Sometimes even YouTube is necessary to start a game. For the following games, the rules are probably familiar to everyone:
Twister
Not a board game but a real hands-on game is Twister from Hasbro Gaming. Everyone has surely tangled during this game. And when you get the hang of it, it all only gets worse. This hilarious game is fun for young and old alike, although some adults need a few drinks before they want to join in. Nowadays there is also a digital version of this game called Twister Air, but we prefer to stick with the original.
Settlers of Catan
Everyone has played at least one version of Settlers of Catan, as this game has been very popular for years and can be found in almost every game cabinet. In addition to the original red box, there are also numerous extensions and variants made to this game by 999games. For example, there is a prehistoric variant with which you play the advance of mankind. This game is always a success and you can cross each other nicely.
Party & Co
Another hilarious classic is Party & Co by Jumbo Play. There are also several variants of this game on the market such as a Disney version, a family version and an extreme version. There is also a junior version of the game allowing younger children to play along. The missions of this game are impossible to get serious about and the atmosphere is always quickly set. Because of the different game elements such as Hints and Pictionary, the game is varied and therefore never boring. Party & Co is definitely one of our favorites!
30 Seconds
The question game 30 seconds from 999games is fun because under time pressure you have to give descriptions of things the other person has to guess. The dreaded die can sometimes throw a spanner in the works, because if you throw a 2, for example, you have to hand in two of your hard-earned points. Still, it is a super fun game. There are several variations on this as well, such as a junior version. You can’t start early enough!
Jenga
Jenga from Hasbro Gaming is also really one of those games that everyone understands and gets fanatical about. It can even get pretty exciting! The principle of the wooden game is simple, but it is still hard enough to get the planks out without the whole tower falling over. Looking for more of a challenge in this game? Then do Jenga Boom! You experience the same pressure with the wooden planks, but then there is also a ticking time bomb in the tower!
Ticket to Ride
Days of Wonder released the board game Ticket to Ride several years ago. In the meantime, there are several game versions of this game as well, allowing you to travel by train through different countries (and across different continents).
New board games for your game night
New games come on the market regularly. New games are always fun to present during a game night, even if the game explanations require some puzzling. Fortunately, most games are quick to learn so play can begin quickly.
Schrodinger’s Cats
Games manufacturer 999games also came out with Schrödingers Cats this year. This quick and simple card game is brand new and great fun for anyone who likes poker-like games. So this game won’t look out of place on a student game night either. Bluffing is the key word. The cards are shuffled just as many times until one winner remains.
Hit Star Guilty Pleasures
Maybe you already knew the game Hitster, but this version is new! This edition features all the wrong hits of the past decades! For this fun and interactive game (use the QR code to listen to all the songs on Spotify) you do not need to be a music expert. And let’s face it: all those shamelessly wrong songs make everyone happy, right? Hitster Guilty Pleasures is from Jumbo Play.
Grain the Forefront
999games has launched a hilarious new bluff game. At Graantje de Voorste, the farm’s poultry is having a big buffet, but the foxes have gotten wind of that, too. They prefer to skip the cereal for the main menu: chicken! Of course, the chickens don’t like that very much, so they have to fight. Collect poultry cards to collect grain or make it difficult for your fellow players by playing fox cards.
At least you won’t be bored in the fall or winter!
