The most beautiful villages and towns in Zeeland

Those who are not familiar with Zeeland think mainly of the sea and the beach. And perhaps the many German tourists who visit the area in the summer. But there are Zeeland villages that are absolutely worth visiting. The village of Sint Anna ter Muiden. This village has been called the best kept secret of West Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. Only 50 inhabitants live in the cobblestone streets today. Dreischor is also a gem: this typical Zeeland ring village is definitely worth a visit!

Thorn

The most beautiful villages and towns in southern Limburg

Valkenburg is by far my most favorite place in South Limburg. Not a village, but a town with a village character. You can take lovely walks, enjoy Limburg delicacies and stroll around the square. Elsloo is a real South Limburg village, though. People have been living in Elsloo for 7000 years: in fact, this was the first farming village in the Netherlands. The fertile soil attracted many people. Still it is as if time has stood still there. Thorn is known as the white town because of its white-painted houses. It is wonderful to stroll through the narrow streets and enjoy one of the cozy terraces.

The most beautiful villages and towns of North Brabant

North Brabant has beautiful villages that are definitely worth visiting. Historic Drimmelen, for example. This village partly has a protected villagescape and is close to National Park the Biesbosch. Willemstad is also a beautiful fortified town. This is the town of William of Orange who was murdered in Delft by Balthazar Gerards in 1584. Ravenstein also belongs in the list of most beautiful villages as far as we are concerned. The village was founded in 1360 and has a rich history. Many houses in the old center have beautiful facades.

Warmond

The most beautiful villages and towns in South Holland

Those who think of urban South Holland may not quickly think of rural villages, but they are there! Just take a look at Warmond. Warmond is located on the Kagerplassen, so water plays an important role here. In addition, the village center is full of beautiful authentic houses and monumental buildings. Brielle was the first Dutch town to be saved from Spanish occupation by the Sea Beggars in 1572. The fortified town has many historic buildings, a pleasant harbor and a nice center!

Marken

The most beautiful villages and towns in North Holland

Hoorn is also called the city of the Golden Age. In the city center and at the port on the IJsselmeer you can feel the history of the VOC, the WIC and the whalers. But also the beautiful stories of the Boys of Bontekoe belong to this town. De Rijp became a thriving village because of the herring catch. The village has a beautiful center with authentic houses and cozy restaurants. Did you know that Marken used to be an island? The area has been inhabited since the 13th century and therefore has a wealth of beautiful houses and buildings. This fishing village is truly a must-visit!
