The best tapas restaurants in Utrecht

But there are many more cities where you can enjoy the tastiest Spanish tapas and delicious shared dining dishes. Because it is always a feast to sit down on a sunny terrace or a cozy restaurant with friends or family and enjoy delicious bites to share.

In this blog we went in search of the nicest tapas restaurants in Utrecht.

Gran Cafe Brava

At Brava you can enjoy all day long the delights of Spanish cuisine in a friendly atmosphere. Close to Utrecht Central Station, you can find this fine tapas restaurant. You can come here every day for delicious tapas and pintxos, but also for fresh fish, meat and vegetarian paella on Mondays and Tuesdays. There is a wide selection of wines and beers that go well with the dishes. On Sundays, you can enjoy extra live music while eating at Brava. You can enjoy all the goodies on the menu both inside and outside on the terrace. The hospitality, friendliness and good service of the staff, make it a very nice place to be and come back.

Cerveceria Boulevard

On the edge of town, about a 15-minute walk from the center, sits this “Hidden Gem” where the authentic flavors of Spanish and Basque cuisine take you back to Spain for a while. You can come here every day of the week for delicious tapas and pintxos, as well as paella on Mondays and Tuesdays with a wide selection of accompanying wines and beers.

Cerveceria Boulevard is a tapas bar like you see in Spain, where you occasionally wait for a spot but where it is always full, busy and cozy. The warmth, cordiality, knowledge and skill of the service create a homey atmosphere. You don’t have to eat elaborate meals, but you can also come here for a snack and a drink. It can get pretty crowded, so if you’re coming with a larger group it’s helpful to make a reservation. But if the two of you walk in spontaneously, there is almost always a place for you.

More tapas

But there are more great tapas restaurants to be found in Utrecht! For example, you can find Vintage Tapasbar & Wine on the Drieharingstraat. Besides delicious hot and cold tapas dishes, they have a 12-meter long bar cabinet behind the bar for with delicious wines ready to serve. In the cozy Zakkendragersteeg behind Utrecht Centraal you can enjoy delicious tapas dishes at Olivo. At Sevilla in Korte Janstraat, you can order not only tapas but also delicious paella and during lunch Spanish bocadillos.

Not Spanish, but tapas

Recently we were at Lucy Lou on the Vredenburg. This is not a Spanish tapas restaurant but it does serve the very tastiest Latin American street food dishes to share with each other, which makes us very happy to recommend it to you as well! With several tostadas, quesadillas, burritos, salads and Mexican snacks on the menu, there is always something delicious to choose from. And besides delicious tapas, this hip restaurant also serves great cocktails!

Utrecht tapas restaurants with multiple locations

Champañeria Los Amigos has not one, but two establishments in Utrecht. You can find them on the Voorstraat in the city center and on the Brusselplein in Leidsche Rijn. On the menu you will find an extensive assortment of meat and Spanish hams, as well as delicious fish dishes and vegetarian appetizers.

And of course one of the most famous tapas chains in the Netherlands cannot be missed in Utrecht either; La Cubanita. With no less than 54 branches throughout the country, you will surely have come across one. In Utrecht you will find La Cubanita on the Oudkerkhof where you can choose from 55 different tapas.
