You would think that the climate in the Netherlands is not warm enough to make wine. But it is! In fact, there are quite a few wine farmers in the Netherlands. Fun to visit during the summer vacations!

Wine farmers in Limburg

The first and oldest vineyard in the Netherlands is located on top of the Louwberg near Maastricht. The Apostelhoeve has been producing the highest quality wines on over 10 hectares of land since 1970. You can buy the wines in the store, but your visit is only complete with a visit to the vineyard for a delicious wine tasting, preceded by a tour of the vineyard, press house and wine cellars.

Sparkling Wine House Domain Holset in Lemiers, near the Three Country Point produces about 25,000 bottles of award-winning sparkling wines. The store and tasting room are open every day from noon to 5 p.m., with tours and tastings always at 3 p.m. On Saturdays and Sundays there are also tours with tasting at 1 p.m. Would you like to stay here longer? You can do so at the lodge on the wine estate. A unique lodge, small and with plenty of space.

Vineyard Fromberg is located on the mountain of the same name, the Fromberg. Founded in 1991, this vineyard produces beautiful and honest wines of consistent quality every year. In addition to tasting the delicious wines, they also offer tours. You can even get married here! You can combine the visit to the vineyard with various activities in the neighborhood. In fact, they offer several fun packages.

But you can also taste and buy the most delicious wines at Domein Aldenborgh and Wijngoed Thorn, you know, that famous white town.

Domaine d’Heerstayen is located in the Markdal, near Strijbeek. Peter de Wit started planting the vineyard in 1979 and has been expanding it since 1998. The farm does not produce alone. Peter’s wife, Marijke de Wit, has transformed this farm into a beautiful orangery where you can get married in style.

In a rural setting, just outside Etten-Leur stands wine and asparagus farm De Santspuy of the Sweep family. Gilbert and Loes are busy year-round with wine and asparagus. In their farm store you can taste and buy these products, of course, but they also have other local specialties. Would you like to experience how the asparagus is cut or how the wine is made? Then book an excursion and round it off with a delicious cup of soup.

Other Brabant wineries are the Hof van Baarle and De Koningsbosch. The latter also has a very cozy bed-and-breakfast!

Wijnhoeve De Kleine Schorre is located on Schouwen-Duiveland . Together with the tasting room and mini-camping they form a special vineyard in the Zeeland landscape. In the tasting room they serve various delicacies of the season for lunch or dinner. But there is more: tours of the vineyard, wine cellar, dining in the vineyard or even getting married in the vineyard. Every year they organize a wine festival, so really immerse yourself in foreign spheres for a while.

On the sunny coast of Walcheren is in Oostkapelle Wijngaard Westerhoeve. Where the family started the vineyard in 1999 as a hobby next to the mini-camping and rental of vacation homes, it has now grown into a full-fledged vineyard, where you can get a tour and tasting by appointment. To make your visit to Zeeland complete, you can also have your picture taken there like a true farmer or farmer’s wife in Walcheren costume.

Wine domain ‘De Koen’ in Zuid-Scharwoude is located in the former horticultural area of Langedijk. In the past, vegetables were grown there on thousands of islands. Each island was given a name based on its shape. The 2 hectares of Wijndomein ‘De Koen’ got its name because it was higher than the other islands. The wine store is open every Friday and Saturday, but of course you can also order the wines online. From April 1 to November 1, you can visit the wine domain. They organize wine tastings, individual and for groups with, of course, a guided tour. For enthusiasts, it is also possible to have a High-Wine in the vineyard or on the heated terrace.

Under the smoke of Amsterdam, you will find vineyard de Amsteltuin in Amstelveen. The vineyard offers a complete package for a whole day. Whether you’re coming for a meeting, party, tasting or day out, you’ll quickly feel at home at the Amsteltuin. Every weekend you can go there for a guided tour, ending with a well-filled drinks basket with delicious wine and snacks. In the vineyard and garden you choose your own spot to enjoy.

Douwe and Jantiene Broersma, are since 2009 the proud owners of the northernmost vineyard in the Netherlands; the Frysling in Twijzel. The name ‘Frysling’ is a combination of the provincial name Fryslân and the grape variety Riesling, Douw and Jantiene provide customized arrangements; tours of the vineyard, picking days and wine tastings for groups. A special tasting room with wood-burning stove has been created in the forest house, where it is pleasant to linger and taste. Every Saturday the store is open and pre-ordered fresh local meals and soups can be picked up.

Wine farmers in Drenthe

Located in Ruinen is Wijnhoeve Runa. This is a vineyard, winery and bed & breakfast. Since 2008 they have been making various white, rosé and red wines here. The vineyard is a beautiful location where they organize tours and tastings, but you can also have a BBQ or party there. They themselves also like to visit a party or festival with their nicely decorated Citroën HY wine bus.

Wijngoed Havelte is named after the place where it is located. Since 2005 Peter and Winie Pels are the proud owners. In addition to delicious red, rosé and white wines, they also grow cranberries here and sell delicious olive oil. Besides a tour and tasting, you can also follow various creative workshops, organize a team building day and after the tasting you can stay overnight in the Bed & Breakfast.

Located in the beautiful landscape of the Betuwe, you will find the vineyards of the Betuws Wijndomein and Wijngaard De Rijsakker. Both vineyards make artisanal, high-quality Dutch wines. In addition to wine tastings, these vineyards offer more. Workshop wine making or cooking, painting among the vines. The Wine Estate is open daily because, after all, they work every day in the vineyard. In the store you can taste and buy the delicious wines. Totally unique is that they also offer the possibility to dine in the vineyard and you can even get married among the vines. At Wijngaard De Rijsakker you can completely unwind in the Bed & Breakfast, all in a Burgundian atmosphere.
