A day at the Huishoudbeurs
Last week was the day, together with my friend’s mother I visited the Huishoudbeurs in the RAI Amsterdam. From the moment we walked in, it felt like a fun day out. Full halls, and lots of different stands that all had something different to offer.
The Huishoudbeurs
The Huishoudbeurs has been around since 1950 and comes back every year; anyone who has ever been there knows that it is truly an experience. One moment you’re standing by a beauty brand that analyzes your skin, the next you’re tasting a new snack concept or discovering an appliance you didn’t know you needed. Although it was first a fair focused on household products, it is now a big event for lifestyle, fashion, living and leisure!
Bingo from Etos
Right as we entered, our attention was immediately drawn to the bingo at the Etos booth. You could enter for free to win different products. The atmosphere was good. Everyone was busy streaking and waiting for that one product they were still missing to shout “BINGO”!
Cocktails in a tube
In between all the booths, we came across something that really caught our attention. Namely cocktails in a tube from Bols. Small, colorful and perfect to take to the beach on a summer day. Also very nice and original to give someone as a gift!
Live Star Bingo
One of the highlights of the day was the live game of Hitster. What an atmosphere! For those not familiar with it, Hitster is a music board game where you have to put songs in the right order on a timeline. Simple idea, but incredibly fun! During the live version, there was plenty of singing along, guessing and laughing. It really was one of those moments when total strangers stand together singing because everyone recognizes that one song. Wonderfully nostalgic and super fun. You could win a nice prize package, which consisted of various games from Jumbo, so everyone tried hard!
Taste, taste and taste again
What I personally found to be one of the most fun parts of the Huishoudbeurs is the tasting. For example, we came across a stand with different kinds of dried fruit, but also a stand where you could try a fries mayo, taste cheese cookies and you could even eat ice cream. It’s so nice to learn about new products that you might not normally be so quick to buy. By getting to taste everything, you might just find your new favorite product!
A moment in Ibiza
At one point we ended up at the Ibiza Square. Here we found several stalls really in Ibiza style! We found cute frills, but also nice clothes, home accessories and jewelry. It was even possible to get a 10-minute massage and relax completely, as if you were really on a mini vacation.
The atmosphere finished it off
What I found that makes the Huishoudbeurs really cozy is the combination of everything: shopping, entertainment, inspiration and coziness. Everywhere you see girlfriends who have made it a tradition, mothers with daughters, colleagues who make it an outing. It was quite crowded, but that’s part of it. On the contrary, it gives a lively and very cozy atmosphere.
The Huishoudbeurs is not just another fair; it really is a day out. Whether you come to shop targeted fair deals, to discover new products, for the entertainment or just for the atmosphere, there is something for everyone!
