Italy event 2020 at De Haar Castle

Last year we already reported to you about the Italy event, which is organized annually in the beautiful castle garden of Castle de Haar. This year our guest blogger Fenne visited this event and reports on it.
Food, drinks, music, vacations and splendor
In the weekend of September 11 to 13, the annual Italy event took place again in the gardens of Castle de Haar. In the flower-filled gardens of this castle, walk past the stalls where you can find Italian delicacies, vacations, decoration, clothing and music. With the rays of the autumn sun on your face and the sound of Italian-speaking vendors in the background, it feels just like a day on vacation in Italy.
The biggest Italy event of the Benelux
The event at Castle de Haar is the largest Italy event in the Benelux. To visit the event, however, you must first buy a ticket. These are €10 for adults and €7.50 for a child between the ages of 4 and 12.
Corona measures
Due to corona measures, you must have purchased the ticket in advance. This requires you to reserve a half-hour time slot in which you may enter the grounds. If you have then entered during this half hour, you may stay on the grounds for as long as you wish. However, you can buy parking tokens at the ticket office if you park your car in the castle parking lot.
Lots of treats
During the Italy event, more than 200 exhibitors are present who want to give you something to take away from Italy. Some sell clothes, bags and accessories, others sell their art and decorations for the home or garden, and still others provide information about vacations in Italy. But the item that really comes back the most during the event is the food and drink. Small tasting glasses of limoncello or wine are handed out a lot. Of course not for people my age 😉 .
I went for the original Esta Thé Pesca, which I always order on an Italian terrace as well. In the morning you can go for a cup of coffee with sweet Italian treats, such as cannoli, sphogliatelle and tiramisu. If you feel like lunch, you can also enjoy a pizza from a wood-fired oven or a real Italian pasta pesto.
As long as it’s about Italy
During the event you can not only walk past the stalls, there will also be lectures on various topics, as long as they have something to do with Italy. Hopefully next year there will be some more activities, like gondola riding or big bouncy castles for the kids, but we had a great time!
