An action-packed outing at Fun Village Rotterdam

Our guest blogger Elsa recently visited Fun Village in Rotterdam. The ideal place for a fun outing in Rotterdam where you can combine different activities in the form of Escape Room, Mini Golf, Prison Island and Axe Throwing. And because we know that Elsa is not only a big escape room lover, but also a blood fanatic about everything to do with games, she was the perfect candidate to experience Fun Village for us. In this blog you can read how she experienced this outing.
A unique escape experience on Prison Island
On an autumnal Saturday in the late afternoon we went to Fun Village Rotterdam with four friends and it was a top experience! We started with Prison Island, which really gave a unique twist to the traditional escape room concept. Instead of one big room, we worked our way through 24 different cells, each with its own challenge. (In fact, 10 more rooms will be added in early 2025 bringing the total to 24 rooms, making it the second largest establishment in the Netherlands).
Upon entering, you will receive – after coming up with a fun team name – a tag that allows you to check into a room. Then you have a limited time to score as many points as possible to break the highscore. If you want to retry a room for a higher score, just check in again. You can book a total time slot and within that time you try to score as many points as possible in as many rooms as possible.
We had an hour and a half and that was just right, we could try everything. We could have been super well entertained for two hours as well. From thinking puzzles to physical challenges like climbing past obstacles, it was a perfect mix that made us all nice and fanatical. As experienced escapers, it was fun to do something different for a change and try to get the highest score. It even included a mini escape room that you had to solve in 2 minutes.
Refuel with a tasty snack
After Prison Island, we took a break with some snacks. The French fries and nachos were just what we needed after all that racing through the escape rooms. The area to have a drink was cozy and the reception was very friendly, which immediately set the mood.
Axe Throwing at Real Axe Throwing
At Real Axe Throwing, we first got a brief explanation from a staff member about safety. Then we had to practice for a while, but once we succeeded, we all became very fanatical. The real pros were able to throw with one hand, although then the axe didn’t stay in the board for everyone. Fortunately, throwing with two hands was still a bit more stable, so even the less coordinated player managed to land the axe properly.
The atmosphere at axe throwing was cozy, like standing at a dartboard in the pub, but with a soda instead of booze, which is kind of safe. You were given a score form according to the American point system, which motivated us to compete and see who could get the highest score. Both the men and the women in our little group were having a blast. It was really fun to give this a try.
We had a great evening at Fun Village Rotterdam and would definitely recommend it to try more activities. It is a super good place for an outing with friends!
