Spring break is upon us again! There are those who go skiing with the family, but there are also many who stay at home. So what can you go and do?

Often the weather is not so good, but there is no need to stay at home! We have the best tips for spring break for you. We are sure you will not be bored during this spring break.

Visit a museum!

Visiting a museum with the kids is always fun and often extra fun things are organized during vacations. These museums are also indoors, so you don’t have to depend on the weather.

National Institute for Sound and Vision

Anyone addicted to screens should not miss a visit to the National Institute for Sound and Vision in Hilversum, of course. Discover all about emoji’s, step into the world of media with the Beeld en Geluid Experience. Become a star for a day or make your own film or TV series. For people of our generation, there is nostalgia in Pavilion Watching Children. So there is something for everyone!

Eye Film Museum

Eye filmmuseum We stay in the world of media for a while with the Eye Film Museum in Amsterdam. Here too there is plenty to see and do, for young and old.

For children, for example, there is an Eye Walk video tour, a scavenger hunt, fun films and a cinematic playground. You can also attend fun workshops there.

Miffy Museum

A great day out for toddlers and preschoolers is a visit to the Miffy Museum in Utrecht! There they can dance, sing and jump, enjoy a fun theater performance or do some tinkering. In this museum you walk around in the world of Miffy, so to speak, full of colors and fun things. The environment is very safe so your child can discover everything on their own.

Villa Zebra

Museum and art laboratory Villa Zebra in Rotterdam challenges children of all ages to be artistic and think outside the box. For example, for children ages 3 to 6, there is the permanent exhibition “Self!” and children ages 7 to 12 plunge into the Kitchen Garden. After an exhibition, your child can work on their own during a fun workshop.

Naturalis Biodiversity Center

Yippee!!! The Naturalis is open to the public again! For a long time the museum was closed due to a major renovation. So visit the 8 renovated museum rooms (including The Dinotime, with Trix!) this vacation season. Please note that it can sometimes be very crowded, so it is wise to reserve tickets in advance. People with reserved tickets have priority.

Of course, there are many other fun museums to visit with children. We wrote a blog about them earlier.

Visit a castle!

Visiting a castle is always an adventure, especially for kids! Especially if those kids are somewhat at home in the world of Harry Potter!

Castle de Haar

Castle de Haar in Haarzuilens is always worth a visit, but during the spring vacations it’s extra fun! Children 6 years and older can get to know the castle and its surroundings by participating in the park scavenger hunt. But even without the scavenger hunt, a visit to Castle de Haar is a magical experience. Take a nice spring walk and relax completely.

The Muiderslot

The Muiderslot is always worth a visit, even with children! From February 15 to March 1, it is Spring Break at the Muiderslot! Children can explore what it was like to spend the winter in a castle and create their own painting in the Atelier in the Attic. Children can also join in to watch a fun theater play.

Would you like to visit a castle during spring break and are looking for more information? Then take a look here as well.

GlowGolf

If the weather is bad, it is fun to go miniature golf with your kids. Especially Glowgolf is very spectacular! The nice thing about this is that you can do it at different locations in the Netherlands. So you don’t have to travel far at all. Glowgolf is fun because it doesn’t take too long so the children’s concentration remains. Afterwards you can have a drink and/or eat something.

Have fun with your daughter

Sometimes it is also super fun to have a day out with your daughter! This includes shopping of course, but shopping makes you hungry. If you happen to be in Rotterdam anyway, you might as well visit Ten to Three Bakery. They sell the most delicious cakepops and cupcakes you have ever eaten. Besides, the whole interior is sugary sweet. You’ll probably want to have a cup of tea there!

Visit a zoo

Visiting a zoo is always fun. Of course, there are a lot of big, well-known zoos in the Netherlands that are wonderful, but there are also a lot of somewhat smaller zoos that are at least as worthwhile! We have previously provided a blog with the nicest small zoos in the Netherlands.

Exciting Scavenger Hunt

City Unique also offers fun outings with kids. And that in a city of your choice! For example, choose Living Goose Board, the Zoo Experience or the Disney Challenge! Super fun! Want to know more about Stad Unique’s outings with kids? Then take a look here.

Outdoor Escape Game

There are Escape rooms for children nowadays, but the Outdoor Escape Game by Outdoor Escape Hoeven is fun for the whole family! With this Escape Game you get to work outside with clues that eventually lead you to one location. Kids can help out, too. The only thing that has to be a little cooperative is the weather.
