The best terraces in The Hague

The Hague is full of terraces. Wherever you look in the city center of The Hague, you will find a terrace where you can just sit back and relax. One in the middle of a busy shopping street, another on one of the many squares or just a small and cozy terrace on the sidewalk of a business in one of the small alleys of The Hague. What are the best terraces in The Hague?
Sometimes you feel like enjoying a nice quiet bite to eat and a drink and other times you feel like a lot of commotion and lots of people watching. Where can you find the best terraces for the mood you are in at that moment in The Hague?
We give you our findings here:
The Plein
Nobody can ignore the Plein in The Hague, of course. Right in the center and surrounded by culture and everything The Hague stands for. Accessibility, atmosphere, friendliness and politics. Because from the Plein you walk straight into the Hague Binnenhof.
The Plein is full of the most famous catering establishments such as Bergen, Cloos, Millers, Plein 19, Luden and the Eeuwige Jachtvelden. The terraces all run into each other. Together they are therefore the largest terrace in The Hague. So it doesn’t really matter where you sit. The Plein is all about bustle, fun and people-watching. Even though it is a tourist attraction and most things are familiar to everyone, a visit to the Plein is always fun.
Grandcafé Haagsche Bluf
Grandcafé Haagse Bluf has, as they say themselves, the most beautiful terrace in The Hague. As far as we are concerned, at least the most special terrace. After all, it is deeply hidden in the shopping center of The Hague. And when you sit on this terrace, you forget completely that you are in a busy shopping area, but you imagine yourself to be somewhere else. At the edge of De Haagsche Bluf you will find a staircase leading up to the terrace. That’s how you get to this terrace and you can sit down on a large terrace above the shoppers. Nice and green and there is always a nice atmosphere.
Anna Palownaplein
The Anna Palownaplein is not well known, but for that very reason it is highly recommended to enjoy a snack and a drink. It is all about atmosphere with good food and drinks. You will find bars and restaurants like Wicked Wines, Publique and the Room Next Door. Here you will find more local guests than the purebred tourist.
Plopping down on the sidewalk
The little pavement cafes are the epitome of the Hague. Just in the middle of the sidewalk in a small alley or side street. One is nicely decorated and the other is no more than a table and two chairs or just a bench. But this does give the ultimate local feel.
Throughout the center you can find these cozy mini terraces. Like Juni in Molenstraat, John & June’s and Appeltje Eitje in Prins Hendrikstraat, Tasty and Brasserie Meys in Frederik Hendriklaan and of course not to forget Walter Benedict and Guiliano on Denneweg
