Cello: the limoncello made with love
Hospitality entrepreneurs Mart J. Kamp and Lianne Buijs (of Hudson Voorschoten) started making their own limoncello in December 2019. Limoncello is a delicious Italian liqueur that tastes perfect as a pure drink and as an addition in desserts. Their Cello is already available in several places, but Mart and Lianne want to conquer all of the Netherlands!
What makes Cello so special?
Mart and Lianne use the best organic lemons for their Cello. Lots and lots of organic lemons! These lemons are put together with the alcohol in small weck pots. This allows the ingredients to blend well. The preserving jars stay like this for weeks and during those weeks they get a lot of attention and love. When all the ingredients have come together completely, it is time to bottle and label the limoncello. This is something Mart and Lianne do all by hand. It doesn’t get any more artisanal than that!
Zero waste
Mart and Lianne do not want the production of their limoncello to be a burden on the environment. They therefore practice Zero Waste: the remains of the used lemons are returned to the greengrocer. The latter then turns them into fresh juices. They also use some of the used lemons themselves to make home-made ice teas and lemonades at Hudson Voorschoten.
Gift tip!
A bottle of Cello is the perfect gift for Saint Nicholas or Christmas. A single bottle of Cello costs € 20,- and looks beautiful. Nice to get, but also nice to give! You can buy Cello at several outlets, including some Hudson stores.
