Climb and get active at climbing park Adventure City Rotterdam

Are you looking for an active outing where you literally and figuratively push your limits? Then climbing park Adventure City in Rotterdam comes highly recommended. We recently visited this park and experienced that it is not only for children. Adults are also challenged here.

Start cautiously … or go straight to the heights

We were two adults and three adolescent-aged boys. As you might guess, the adolescents had no doubts and climbed straight into the outside tower, heading for the highest route.

We wanted to take it a little easier. As we followed the boys, we quickly noticed that the courses were getting more challenging for each floor in the tower. So we decided to “get in” on a lower level first. A good choice, it soon turned out.

While the boys moved effortlessly over the obstacles, we noticed that it required a bit more balance and courage than we had expected. Some parts are solid, others are wobbly. And yes, for me that meant ending up in a safety net. Fortunately, with some laughter, a little fumbling and help from a friend, I made it back onto the course.

Indoor climbing with surprising variety

After our first round in the climbing park, the boys especially wanted higher and further. We chose to climb another round inside. Here too you will find different routes with varying degrees of difficulty and we chose a slightly easier route than the previous one. While the adolescents obviously also chose the most challenging route inside, the Via Ferrata.

What is nice is that each route also indicates how long it takes you approximately. Ideal, because you climb here in time slots of two hours. This way you can decide what you want to do during your visit.

Taking a break … or not

In between, we took some time for a drink and ice cream. Although the boys were clearly less interested. They wanted to keep climbing and discover more.

Ending with a good dose of adrenaline

Just when we thought it was enough, we were enthusiastically picked up for a final round: the zip-lines. I stayed with both feet on the ground to take photos and videos, but my friend went with the boys.

And that turned out to be a really fun finale after all. You start on top of the roof of the hall and then zip along and around the entire climbing park. Nice hanging and floating.

Who is this a fun outing for?

During our visit, we saw a little bit of everything: children’s parties, families, groups of friends and even bachelor parties. That really makes this a place for a wide audience.

Whether you are sporty or just feel like something new and active. This is the place to be. And the higher you go, the more guts you need.

Tip from us

Start slowly, even if you think you can start high right away. The trail really gets spicier the higher you get. And don’t forget to look around you from time to time. Because the view is also worthwhile. And above all, have fun!
