Eindhoven – Discovering Eindhoven with an E-fatbike Tour
We used to visit Eindhoven quite often. For our annual friends’ weekend, carnival and for activities with the kids, but never before had we discovered this vibrant city of lights by bike. Actually, we hadn’t seen much of the surrounding area either. So we thought it would be fun to do the E-fatbike Tour of City Tours Eindhoven.
City Tours Eindhoven – passion for Eindhoven
It was a bit of a drive from The Hague and upon arrival we wondered whether we had come to the right place. The navigation took us to the middle of a residential area. However, we saw the fatbikes and the mail indicated ‘home office’! The company is run by two real people from Eindhoven with a passion for traveling and for their beautiful city. We were explained how to use the fatbikes, the web app and what to do in case of a breakdown.
The E-fatbike Tour through Eindhoven
Then our bike tour began! Through a handy web app you can very easily follow the route and get information about 16 different stops in the area. You determine the pace of the tour yourself. Along the way you can decide to deviate from the route, to stop at one of the indicated catering establishments or to pick something yourself. The tour of about 45 km is a nice mix of nature and city. It takes you past old farms, forests and parks and highlights of Eindhoven.
The weather was beautiful so we decided to have a drink on the terrace at ‘t Boshuys shortly after starting our bike tour. By the way, you can drink the locally brewed specialty beer ‘Strijder’ here, which is a tribute to all the people who put their lives on the line for our liberation during World War II. It is possible to take a look at the small brewery next to the brasserie.
We continued our way through a park, past graffiti artwork and colored houses. Very nice to know a bit more about the stops through the information given to you in the app. At Strijp S, an old industrial area of Philips which has now become a hip and creative part of the city, we made another stop for an ice cream and waffle. The food here smelled really good too!
Via the Philips stadium, the light tower, small boutiques, the city brewery and cozy terraces, among others, we arrived back at the end point. We enjoyed discovering new places despite having been to Eindhoven many times!
Cycling 45 km without effort
The fatbikes cycle very nicely (we found!). One person can ride the fatbike, or an adult and a child up to 12 years old. The condition is that this person can sit up independently. From 12 years or 140 cm the fatbike can be ridden independently (if accompanied by an adult). By pedaling slowly you can ride up to 25km per hour, there is no throttle. Without much effort you cycle the route of 45km. By the way, the bikes have a handy holder for your phone, great for navigating! In addition, they come with a lock and alarm, for when you go somewhere to drink, eat or shop.
The price includes the route and fatbike rental (children on the back are free). You agree on a time to start (between 10:30 and 12:00) and return the bike between 17:00 and 18:00. The battery lasts a long time, after our tour it was at the halfway point, more than enough for your day out!
It was a successful day!
