Recently, we had another really fun outing. We went to P!nk’s concert at the Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam, and were invited to BAUT Backstage for dinner beforehand. BAUT Backstage is a restaurant above the Ziggo Dome, right across from the Johan Cruijff Arena and around the corner from AFAS live!

Four girls on their way to Amsterdam

With a total of 4 overenthusiastic women who were really looking forward to the concert of P!nk, we left early for Amsterdam. Especially on days when concerts or soccer matches are scheduled, it can be very busy on the Johan Cruijff Boulevard ring road, especially around rush hour. Fortunately, we had reserved a parking space in advance and arrived in Amsterdam on time. Time for a drink to start the evening.

On time at BAUT

In order not to enter the Arena too late, we had already reserved our table at BAUT Backstage at 17:00. We were not the only ones who thought so, so there was already a cozy atmosphere, but it was not so crowded yet. We were welcomed at the entrance and after checking our reservation were taken to our table. From here we had a nice view outside and could look around the restaurant unabashedly. In fact, they have beautiful wall art here that is worth admiring. We were given bottles of water and all had a nice drink.

Thematic menu, tailored to the artist performing

Looking at the menu for food is not necessary at BAUT, because they work with a thematic event menu. Per concert they put together a thematic menu entirely in the style of the artist or show. In advance you can take a look at the menu of your concert night on the website and decide if it is to your liking. As you will understand, our theme was composed around P!nk.

The appetizer was a Burrata with orange compote, lavender, honey and sesame tuille. We have never eaten a Burrata this way before and it was truly delicious! Luckily we had gotten some bread on the table, because with it we were able to empty the bowl completely! The main course was a corn chicken with mousseline, chicory, truffle and hazelnut. Also very tasty. Our dessert was appropriately pink; Champagne sabayon with vanilla cream and red fruit. To savor! And also the presentation was a picture to look at. We had a truly delicious meal.

A dinner that takes into account the start of the concert

What was also very nice is that the staff keeps a close eye on how quickly you are served your food. They are aware that you are going to a concert, so you have to leave on time. They can serve your dishes within 10 minutes, but also ask in between if you want a slightly longer break. We had set seats at the concert, so not much of a rush, so we took it a little easier, but still left the door at 7 p.m. after a cup of coffee as a bouncer with satisfied and full bellies.

Party in the Arena

And then the party broke loose. Upon entering, the support act was already on stage. None other than the Irish band The Script. I really like this band as well, so it was a gift that we got them for free. Followed by a rousing DJ session, it was finally time for P!nk to stand at the top of the stage trapeze and bounce down on a rubber band. And then the show went right on!!! What energy, what a show and what a fun person! A two-hour blazing show with all her rousing and energetic songs full of dance and acrobatics. Of course here and there a little song and as the bouncer the song So What, where P!nk flying through the air on cables makes a lap of honor through the whole stadium. What a show!

Reviews of BAUT Backstage

Not only our blogger Ester was delighted with BAUT Backstage as a restaurant prior to her concert night. Her dining companions were also very enthusiastic:

Review by Yf: “Had dinner here with 4 nice girls prior to Pink’s concert. The service was incredibly friendly and fast. The set 3-course menu inspired by the performing artist was really fantastic, how beautifully conceived and delicious the dishes were! We will definitely eat here again. This really comes highly recommended.”

Review from Amanda: “A fun, relaxed way to start a fun evening. With 4 girls, we enjoyed a set menu inspired by that evening’s artist. This is always a wait and see, but did not disappoint. Personally, I thought the appetizer was really tasty, but the next two courses were also nothing to complain about. The service was incredibly friendly. We were regularly asked if everything was to our liking and we did not have to wait long for our drinks. The atmosphere in the restaurant feels very cozy, good music at a pleasant volume.”

Review by Ingrid: “Thursday, July 11, we, four crazy girlfriends, left for Amsterdam for P!nk’s concert. To start the evening off right we wanted somewhere nice to eat, well we totally succeeded! Above the entrance of the Ziggo Dome we found a super restaurant, BAUT Backstage. A modern look, cozy atmosphere, very friendly staff, great wine and fantastic food. We got a set menu with a fresh burrata salad as a starter, free-range chicken in the main menu and champagne ice cream with vanilla cream for dessert. Next concert we know where to eat again, because we enjoyed that evening, not only P!nk, but also this culinary experience, highly recommended!”

All in all, a complete night out that was from start to finish, enjoyable, delicious and spectacular. And as for BAUT Backstage, at the next concert we will gladly come back here again!
