Enjoy Asian fusion cuisine at Dinnerant in Rotterdam
Some restaurants make an immediate impression the moment you walk in—not just because of the food, but because of the entire experience. That’s exactly what we experienced during our visit to Dinnerant Rotterdam. On a Saturday evening, we arrived early to indulge in a culinary feast featuring the flavors of Chef Yuki Azuma and his team.
A Stylish First Impression
We arrived at Dinnerant at 5:30 p.m. Since the restaurant is still relatively new and it was quiet early in the evening, we had plenty of time to take in the atmospheric decor. Our spacious table was right in front of the open kitchen—a spot where guests can literally watch the dishes being prepared. Chef Yuki Azuma and his team worked with visible focus and great precision on every order that left the kitchen.
The restaurant offers a variety of seating options, ranging from cozy high tables to comfortable low tables. In addition, Dinnerant features a beautiful bar where you can enjoy a cocktail, but also sample dishes from the menu. And as if that weren’t enough, there’s also an additional floor with tables. So space is certainly not an issue here. What immediately caught our attention was the pleasant arrangement of the tables. You’re not seated too close to one another, allowing you to quietly enjoy your own company without unintentionally becoming part of the conversation at the table next to you.
Surprised by the Chef
That evening, we let ourselves be completely surprised by a selection of dishes specially curated by Chef Yuki. It was the perfect way to get acquainted with Dinnerant’s versatile cuisine.
One of the first dishes that caught our attention was the beautifully presented Smoked Salmon Tiradito. Lightly smoked salmon on binchotan, paired with a fresh yuzu and orange dressing. Not only a feast for the eyes, but also a beautiful balance between smoky and fresh flavors. The Dashi Flamed Tuna was also a real standout. Fresh tuna tataki from the robata grill, paired with dashi-infused tomato, citrus, and little gem lettuce. A refined dish where all the flavors come together beautifully. For sushi lovers, the Sushi Bluefin Selection is an absolute must-try. A selection of nigiri and rolls featuring different cuts of bluefin tuna—from the robust flavor of akami to the buttery-soft toro that literally melts on your tongue.
In addition to the refined seafood dishes, we also enjoyed the Spiced Chicken Karaage. Crispy chicken pieces with chili oil and roasted nuts. High-end comfort food with just the right amount of spice. One of the highlights of the evening was undoubtedly the Miso Tenderloin. A 120-day-aged Black Angus tenderloin marinated in miso and then grilled on the robata. The result is an exceptionally tender cut of meat with a deep umami flavor that you’ll be talking about for a long time to come.
A peek behind the scenes
What made this evening even more special was that I was even allowed to take a quick peek into the kitchen. There, it became clear once again just how much attention and craftsmanship goes into every dish. Chef Yuki and his team work with obvious joy and precision. Everything is prepared with care and finished down to the last detail before leaving the kitchen. That’s exactly what makes a restaurant visit special.
A restaurant you’ll want to return to
At Dinnerant, it’s not just about great food. The whole experience comes together perfectly. The modern ambiance, the open kitchen, the friendly service, and the surprising dishes all combine to create a complete evening out. The staff is welcoming, enthusiastic, and clearly knowledgeable about the dishes they serve. This makes you feel immediately welcome as a guest.
Are you looking for a contemporary Asian fusion restaurant in Rotterdam where atmosphere, quality, and hospitality come together? Then Dinnerant is definitely a must-try. We enjoyed a wonderful evening and already know this won’t be our last visit.
