How did Sonja experience the Prison Escape?

At the beginning of May we, together with a number of guests, were allowed to participate in the Prison Escape in the Koepelgevangenis in Breda. In this series we will tell you what our experiences were like so that you will also want to go through this experience!
Sonja, how did you prepare for the Prison Escape?
Honestly, not at all! I always just let everything happen to me, but I had to swallow a little at first! It was much more intense than I had expected. We were separated at the beginning and I had number six hundred and something. So I was literally in the back row.
What did you find most impressive about that?
I realized pretty quickly that the actors were blood fanatics. That’s great, of course, but pretty intimidating when you’re in the middle of it yourself. In addition, I was immediately super alert. And way too well behaved, as it turns out, haha.By the way, I was most impressed by the building itself. You really feel like an ant when you are ushered in there. I didn’t want to do anything wrong either, and I especially hoped no one was going to speak to me. So I pretended I wasn’t there, but that was a little tricky because I was pretty much at the front while we were getting a sermon from the prison warden.
Did you escape?
Yes – but that was pure coincidence, hahaha. As I said, I had absolutely no plan beforehand. Yes, I actually wanted to score a job somewhere, but that didn’t work out very well. So I had actually kind of given up. But suddenly I saw an opportunity and before I knew it I was outside.
How did that feel?
That was truly the best feeling in the world! I was euphoric! Super fun too that we got high 5’s from all the guards afterwards. It all happened so fast that I actually didn’t even realize the game was over.
Would you recommend the Prison Escape to others?
Oh yes! Everyone should do this once! Just to experience what it’s like to be locked up. And to be set free of course. That really gives a huge kick. So buy your tickets here to experience it too!
