Museum visit with the whole family

Do you ever visit a museum with the kids? We have already mentioned some museums in our blog about spring break , but there are many more! Fun for the kids, but also for you. This way the museum visit really becomes a party!
Science Museum Nemo in Amsterdam
Do your kids love experiments, but would rather not let them try them out at home? Then they can have a blast at Nemo. This science museum is always fun, but in the crocus vacation they have extra fun things planned. So put on your lab coat and get to work in the Workshop, or enjoy the exhibition on life in the universe. A day at Nemo is an unforgettable day out for young and old, and you’ll always learn something. You can find the Nemo Science Museum at Oosterdok 2 in Amsterdam. The museum is easily accessible by public transport and there are four parking garages nearby.
Prison Gate The Hague
The Gevangenpoort in The Hague is a museum more suitable for slightly older children. The small prison building across from the Binnenhof is literally bursting at the seams with history. A lot has happened at this place and the guides are happy to tell you about it. After your visit to the Gevangenpoort, you can relax at a nice Hague terrace or go shopping in the city.
Space Expo Noordwijk
Is your child also completely captivated by the universe? Then a visit to the Space Expo in Noordwijk is definitely worthwhile. Here the little aspiring astronaut can indulge his or her heart’s content. And for yourself it is also very interesting! For example, you can see what the Soyuz capsule looks like in which André Kuipers has been in space. For an educational day out, this is definitely recommended!
Corpus Oegstgeest
Is your child older than 6? Then it might be fun to learn more about the human body. Not only educational for the children but also for you! Literally travel through the human body in 55 minutes. At Corpus you will learn how our body is put together, how it works and what you need to do to keep it healthy. The audio tour takes you on a journey through the huge giant you can see from afar along the highway. You start in the knee and come back out at the brain. Really very interesting and put together in a fun way. The whole family will enjoy this!
Aviodrome Lelystad
A day at Aviodrome is educational for the whole family. At Aviodrome you will find 6000 m2 of aircraft history. What’s also nice: There is an outdoor section as well as an indoor section. So bad weather is no excuse not to go. This museum has something for something. There is all kinds of things for children to do and for adults it is also very interesting. For example, a large part of the museum is set up about World War II. You can find Aviodrome at Pelikaanweg 50, Lelystad Airport.
Ripley’s Curiosity Cabinet Believe it or Not! in Amsterdam
Ripley’s Believe it or Not! in Amsterdam is truly a fun museum for young and old. Robert Ripley, a world traveler, brought back all the crazy, scary and funny things from all over the world. He collected all his curiosities in a museum. This was such a success that museums of his can now be found all over the world, including at De Dam in Amsterdam. We have been there and it was really a lot of fun. Children get to try everything themselves and there is a lot to see, experience and learn!
FutureLand Maasvlakte
It is also very interesting to visit Europe’s most modern port: the Port of Rotterdam. In FutureLand you will get a glimpse of this port and you can even take an impressive bus or boat tour. And that with a spectacular view of the second Maasvlakte. Children have also been thought of, because especially in the spring vacation there are children’s tours, treasure hunts (for children aged 6 to 9 and children aged 10 and older) and workshops. In addition, children can also do experiments. FutureLand is free to visit and you can find FutureLand at Europaweg 902 on the Maasvlakte in Rotterdam. Parking is free.
Visit the National Military Museum!
The National Military Museum may not be the first thing you think of, but this museum has something for everyone. Inside are six themed rooms where you can learn all kinds of things about our Armed Forces. For kids, there’s plenty to do, too. Look inside a real F16 or tank and learn the NATO language. In the Xplore room, kids can get to work themselves. Also around the museum is a good place to be on nice days. There you can enjoy 380 acres of special nature in the recreation area. Definitely worth a visit! This summer there is plenty to do and experience!
For example, did you know that you can drive a tank yourself at the National Military Museum? A cool mini-tank that is! Grasp the sticks firmly and tear yourself across the challenging outdoor course. A whole new battalion of mini-tanks is waiting for you. Will you test them out?
You will find the National Military Museum on the Verlengde Palzerweg in Soest. Parking is free.
The Railway Museum
The Spoorwegmuseum in Utrecht is really a fun day out! Become a train expert in the TechLab, travel to faraway places and take part in the spectacular Fire Test (for children 12 years and older). You can find the Railway Museum at Maliebaan Station in Utrecht. Parking costs €7 but you can also take the commuter train from Utrecht Station. That’s a super fun start to your museum visit!
Science Centre Delft
The Science Centre in Delft is part of TU Delft and here young and old can learn about science and technology. Here is a reflection of recent research and student projects that you can check out, but you are also challenged to get to work yourself. In addition to various guided tours, there are lots of fun children’s workshops (€3 extra per child) to do from the age of 6 and up, especially during the spring break. But fun and challenging workshops are also available for adults. The research projects are regularly replaced for new ones, so it is also definitely worth coming back later. You can park for free next to the Science Centre.
Museon The Hague
The Museon in The Hague is great fun to visit with children, but it is also a fun and especially educational day for you. The Museon itself is already worthwhile, but so are the exhibitions! For example, you can now visit the exhibition “Travels in Space”. Children can also do all kinds of things here themselves. But besides that, there is much more to see and experience! Parking is available around the Museon and is paid.
Maritime Museum Amsterdam
During spring break, there is plenty to do at the Scheepvaartmuseum in Amsterdam. For example, there are all kinds of things children can do. For example, children ages 6 and up can enjoy the program “The Story of the Whale.” For children aged 8 and older, there is a VR experience aboard a VOC ship. And learn all about life aboard a ship. Parking costs €20 for the whole day. But you can also get there easily by public transport.
