Our daily lives are generally very busy and hectic. Taking children to school, work, shopping, cooking, housework and then also taking the kids off and on to their sports club.

How difficult it can be then when you hear that there is another study day at school or that the teachers are going on strike again. And even during the vacations it is not always possible to take time off or take the children to daycare.

Then it is nice when grandparents offer to go out for a day with the grandchildren. To the playground, zoo or other fun location. We have listed some fun outings for grandparents with their grandchildren.

Space expo

Space expo is a real space museum in Noordwijk. Not only super fun for the grandchildren, but also for grandpa and grandma. They too can learn something about our current space technology. Together with your grandchildren you can visit all the stars and planets of the universe, have fun during the changing exhibitions, visit André Kuipers’ spaceship or go on an excursion in the space shuttle.

There are many more museums that are ideal to visit with the grandchildren. Take for example NEMO in Amsterdam, Corpus in Oegstgeest, the Maritime Museum in Rotterdam and the Railway Museum in Utrecht. For more inspiration, take a look here.

Beachcombing

What do children love more than being allowed to run, wander and fuss? Take them to the beach and let them get a breath of fresh air. Open and Grandma walk along the surf of the sea at a leisurely pace, while the grandchildren run, roll, flee from the waves and search for the most beautiful shells to take home.

Go to the library

The library also often hosts a variety of events. From reading hours to small show and workshops. So check out the website of the library near you to see what’s going on.

Nowadays there are also a lot of nice bookstores where you can find nice reading nooks and where you can get a nice cup of coffee for grandma and grandpa. Our guest blogger Louise recently made a list of the cutest children’s book stores.
