Outdoor dining
As of April 28, Corona measures are finally being relaxed for the hospitality industry. Terraces will be allowed to open again (subject to conditions)! Many people are happy with this relaxation, at least as a first step. But there are also plenty of people who do not like the idea of sitting on a terrace with a lot of other people.
But now that the weather is getting nicer and the temperature is rising, everyone feels the need to eat outside. We have compiled a list of places where you can enjoy eating outdoors and keep a good distance between other people.
Eating outside in the garden
The people with their own garden are lucky. They can eat outside as often as they want and that while the stove and refrigerator are within easy reach. So make sure you have a comfortable garden table that is out of the wind and in the shade as well, and eat whatever you whip up in the kitchen outside. Of course, you can always fire up the barbecue.
Eating outside on the balcony
Not everyone has the luxury of a garden. But many households do have a balcony. Is the balcony big enough to sit there with the whole family? Then you have as much luxury as in the garden. You can conjure up any kind of meal from the kitchen without any problems and enjoy it on your own balcony. Is your balcony a little smaller? The kids might find it much more fun to picnic together on the ground on a rug, just in front of the balcony door. You and your partner can then enjoy your meal on your balcony in a little more relative peace while still having a cozy meal together.
Eating outside in the neighborhood garden
Don’t have any space at home to eat outside? Then settle down in the neighborhood garden. Many porch houses and flats have a communal garden for their residents. So basically just your own (very large) backyard. Set up a camping table and some chairs, or put down a big picnic blanket and you can have a great outdoor meal here, too. And because this garden is still very close to your kitchen, you can easily prepare hot or chilled dishes to eat right away. However, it is helpful to think about what you make, so that it does make it easy to bring to the garden, and easy to eat in the garden.
Eating outside in the park
Don’t have a neighborhood garden? Then look around the nearby park. Here you can often find picnic spots or spacious lawns where you can also enjoy a delicious meal. Some places even have picnic tables so you can just eat at the table, but with a large rug and a basket full of goodies it is also very cozy and atmospheric eating outside. Just make sure the hot food is well packed and the chilled food is brought in a cooler or cooler bag. Of course, you don’t want it to spoil or cool down too quickly.
Eating outside on the beach
Another atmospheric place to eat outside is the beach. Now that the terraces are allowed to open again, you can of course reserve a table at your favorite beach bar, but you can also eat with a bag full of goodies and a picnic blanket with your toes in the sand. For the kids often a big party and you can enjoy beach life while eating and you have the sea as your view.
Eating on the water
A very luxurious way of eating outside where you have the guarantee that other people cannot come near you is on the water. Some lucky people have the luxury of their own boat. But that is not necessary at all. At every water in the Netherlands you can find a boat rental company where you can rent your own sloop or whistler boat. Moor somewhere nice and pull out your picnic basket. A piece of baguette with a spread and a nice glass of wine and enjoy!
