Photo route through Amersfoort

Are you still looking for a fun activity where you can go outside? Then the photo route through Amersfoort by Tijd voor Amersfoort is highly recommended! We got this great tip from Visit Utrecht Region and we did it right away! What a versatile city Amersfoort is: history is literally in the streets! So come outside this winter!
Come outside in winter!
You can do the photo route through Amersfoort in any season, but we did it in winter. And that was definitely not a disappointment! Amersfoort is a very nice city and has everything to offer. History, culture, shopping and much more! The characteristic koppelpoort for example dates from 1425. It can be visited by appointment (when the strictest measures are over). You will then also get a look inside the gate itself! Would you like that? Then make an appointment here. Shopping is unfortunately not allowed because of the current Corona measures, but that’s not bad at all because there are plenty of other things to see and do!

The photo route we were going to do had a length of 2.6 kilometers and would take us past all historical and important places through the city. Because the walk is not overly long, it is also good to do with children. The walk started at the Amersfoort Kei and ended at the Koppelpoort where we had an appointment with Nathalie of the Cotton Printing Company. We recognized the Onze Lieve Vrouwetoren, also called The Miracle of Amersfoort, but we didn’t know there were so many nice medieval streets in Amersfoort! You can climb the tower by the way, so take your time on your walk. By the way, that’s a great tip for when it’s all possible again!
Plenty to do, even in winter!
You would say that the winter period is not attractive to visit a city, but nothing could be further from the truth! There are lights everywhere and you just feel the coziness. We found the photo route really fun to do because it makes you look at a city with different eyes. Please note that it is not a scavenger hunt but really a walk. So you can really do it at your own pace, which is nice if you want to see everything! Would you like to do the Amersfoort Photo Route yourself? Then click here!
