Restaurant Destino can be found at the Zaagmolenkade in Rotterdam. This restaurant has been around for 10 years now and will already be a familiar place for many Rotterdammers. But since June 2019, Destino has a new captain at the helm; Reinbert Sneep. An enthusiastic and driven man, with a great passion for Spain. His aim is therefore to give Rotterdam a little bit of Spain with his delicious Spanish dishes. Recently OpstapmetLisa was invited for a press lunch.

During this lunch, Reinbert wanted to introduce himself as the new owner, but above all to show that Destino is still Destino, but with even more Spain in it. And of course we didn’t turn down an invitation to come and taste his delicious menu, so hop to Rotterdam, to Destino!

The restaurant is located on the quay near the Noordplein and has a view of De Rotte. A nice place to take a seat on the cozy terrace in the summer. Inside, an attractive partition divides the restaurant into the bar with a number of high tables and on the other side the restaurant area overlooking the open kitchen.

Not just any lunch menu

Upon arrival, we were welcomed by Reinbert himself. Not only us, but several other bloggers and vendors had been invited to come and try out the lunch menu. Because in the past, this lunch menu focused on Dutch customs, a tasty sandwich or a fresh soup.

But with the aim of giving the people of Rotterdam a bit of a Spanish twist, Reinbert has changed the lunch concept. In fact, from now on you can come and enjoy an extensive Spanish lunch full of tapas on weekends.

You can order a number of tapas from the menu, but you can also be surprised by choosing the menu del dia.

Delicious Spanish tapas

During our lunch, several dishes were served to give us an impression of Destino’s lunch menu. To start, Reinbert served a couple of pinchos. One with serrano ham and mango chutney and one with goat cheese, garnished with candied onions. This was followed by some chicken croquettes, calamari, roasted squash and a delicious soup of potato, leek and olive oil.

All the dishes looked as wonderful as they tasted. I myself regularly visit and eat tapas in Spain and I must say that I really wouldn’t find Destino’s dishes out of place in a tapas restaurant in Barcelona.

And afterwards we were spoiled even more. We received a bag full of delicacies sponsored by various suppliers of Destino. One thing is for sure, owner Reinbert knows how to pamper his guests!

Aún más por favor

This was our first visit to Destino, but certainly not the last. Indeed, in addition to the lunches on Fridays and weekends, from Tuesday to Sunday you can also come and have a delicious dinner and enjoy many more delicious Spanish dishes.
