Halloween

On October 31, we will celebrate Halloween again. And now that most coronagraphs have been lifted, we can make it a party again! So get cozy at home with spooky delicious snacks and fun homemade decorations. We give you fun tips in this blog!

The tastiest Halloween snacks

Halloween cupcakes

On Pinterest you can find all your inspiration to go all out on spooky snacks. Take Halloween cupcakes for example! All you need is muffin batter, colored cream and fondant (ready-made from the store). A little styling and voila! Success guaranteed! To stick decorations on the cupcake, I always use those little decorating pens (chocolate) from Dr. Oetker. Work great as glue!

A cucumber snake is also a snap to make. Grab three hefty cucumbers, remove the butts from two cucumbers. Cut the cucumbers into thin slices and place the cucumbers against each other so that they become a long string. Put a butt on the front and back and drape the cucumber as if it were a snake. Use red bell bell pepper for the tongue and eyes and done! A healthy snack too!

Mummy sausage rolls’s are also a snap. Take some puff pastry a can of frankfurters and some candy eyes. Roll the sausages in with the puff pastry, leaving space at the face. Bake the puff pastry (preheated, 10 minutes at 200 degrees) and when it has cooled, stick the eyes on top.

There must be a drink, of course! Fill those plastic gloves (not the ones with powder inside) with water (knot it!) and put them in the freezer until they are completely frozen. Get a large bowl that you fill completely with flavored lemonade (strawberry with water, for example) and whole lychee fruits. You buy these in a jar. You put these in. When the hands are completely frozen, take off the glove and put it in the bowl. Looks super delicious! (Tip for adults: add a big splash of vodka, haha).

Sausage fingers are always nice and creepy, too! Grab a can (or several cans, depending on the size of your family) of sausages and roll them in a thin sheet of puff pastry. Brush on some beaten egg with a brush and finally stick on an almond as a fingernail. Twenty minutes in a preheated oven at 200 degrees (check the color in between) and you have a delicious snack!

The best Halloween decorations

Halloween decoraties

Of course, you can buy fun Halloween decorations at all kinds of stores. But of course you can also make them yourself! And it really doesn’t have to be complicated! Pumpkins are a must for Halloween. You can make a real jack-o-lantern with the whole family. Perhaps the little ones should stay away from sharp objects, but they can help with the emptying of the pumpkin. That’s a nice dirty job so that’s always good.

One thing that is unfortunate about a carved pumpkin is that it doesn’t last very long. Want to keep your pumpkin longer? Then paint it with a creepy face! It will last for months that way!

Wrap your outside door with strips of white fabric (from an old sheet, for example) and stick two giant eyes on it (from cardboard, for example). Then you have a real mummy door! Relatively little work but with a giant fun result.

Make your garden extra creepy with luminous eyes. What do you need for this? Basically just toilet rolls, scissors and glow-in-the-dark sticks. Oh yeah, and it has to be dark. Cut creepy eyes out of toilet roll. Break a glow-in-the-dark stick so it will light up. Put it in the toilet roll and hide it in different (but visible) places in the garden. Super funny effect!

Also fun for the garden: garden ghosts! Take different colors of fabric, black paper to make a hat and eyes. Hang the ghosts in the garden and you’re done!
