January often raises the question for many people: where are we going on vacation this year? For those who don’t know yet, want something different or are looking for information, the vacation fair is the ideal place! There you will find everything you are looking for under one roof: whether you are going for a vacation in the Netherlands or want to go on a faraway trip. The Vakantiebeurs is held every year in January. It was summer for a while and everyone was in the vacation mood.

The Vakantiebeurs

The Vakantiebeurs is being held for the 49th time this year and has already inspired many people. At the vacation fair in the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht you will find something for everyone. Whether you are looking for a child-friendly campsite, a cruise, a trip through Europe or a faraway destination. It’s all there! Large and small tour operators stand next to stands of tourist agencies. This year’s Vakantiebeurs will be held from Thursday, January 10 to Sunday, January 13. So you can still go there this weekend!

Kidsroute

The youngest (world) travelers have also been thought of. There is a real kids route! Children get their own “passport” with which they can walk through the fair. There are also fun things to do such as ride the Ferris wheel, climb and even sail! Older children can have a blast at the youth vacations. Thus, the Holiday Fair is fun for every age to visit.

Fun things for adults too

Adults were also thought of. You can get a wonderful Thai massage and you can use VR glasses to look around at your future vacation destination. Ester tried the Thai massage and she can recommend it (although it wasn’t very pleasant at the time).

There was also a market where you could buy nice gadgets that immediately give you a vacation feeling. Think cute bags, beautiful fabrics, dishes and statues. But there were also all kinds of delicious delicacies to be found. Are you especially looking for more information about your travel destination? There are also stands where you can buy travel books so you can prepare for your vacation!

Vakantiebeurs tradities

Europe and far travel, but also the Netherlands!

It’s been years since I had been to the Vakantiebeurs and because we didn’t have children back then, our interest was mainly in the far away trips. But now that we have children that does become more difficult, although I took plenty of brochures with examples of family trips.

Nevertheless, the most ideal vacation with children is still camping. Those too come in all shapes and sizes. From modest camping to 5-star camping with all the trimmings! The Netherlands was also well represented as a vacation destination. I used to not think about it myself, but of course the Netherlands is beautiful. And there is so much to do! Of course, we got a lot of ideas here that we will definitely share with you!

Beautiful stands

I myself have been on a few trips with tour operator Djoser. I was perhaps most looking forward to their stand. It is very special and you always feel like you are walking in a Turkish bazaar. They also have a wonderful travel brochure, but remember that it is not liftable! Other large travel companies such as Fox, Koning Aap and Sawadee also have beautiful travel brochures that will immediately put you in the vacation mood. Even at home on the couch you can dream away to all those beautiful destinations.

At all stands there are friendly people who want to tell you everything about their country or their organization. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Sometimes this has to be done in English or another language. But that only increases the vacation fun. Some exhibitors make it even more pleasant by offering tasty snacks or a glass of wine.

The inner man

The inner man is also thought of during the Holiday Fair. Whether you go for a small, simple snack or a more elaborate meal, it’s all possible. You can even enjoy traditional dishes in some places! Even in the in-between section between Europe and the far-flung travels, you can buy all kinds of tasty things: from dry sausage to nuts and sweets. At least you won’t have to starve during a day at the fair.

Travel brochures for even more preliminary fun

Vakantiebeurs BrochuresI always tell myself not to take too many brochures with me when I’m at a trade show, because they are a pain in the ass. But I fall into the same trap every time. The pile is therefore considerable! Partly because we do not quite know the destination for this year, but also because I wanted to bring a lot of Dutch brochures this time. I’ll get through the winter daydreaming about the ideal vacation!
