3 tips for when you go boating with the kids
Choose the right boat
Boating is great fun, as long as you have the right boat. You can often choose from many different types, but it is especially important that you look carefully at space and safety. A boat that goes fast is fun, but not very sensible with a couple of small children of course. It is wise to choose a kind of sloop, so that you can all sit comfortably relaxed and not worry about speed, for example. Now, by the way, there is also a speed limit in most areas and many boats are also limited.
Provide some entertainment
A day of boating is, of course, the perfect way to enjoy yourself with the whole family. However, it is often quite difficult for young children to be able to entertain themselves for an hour or even longer. It is therefore wise to also provide some entertainment along the way. For example, bring some games along so that you can moor somewhere during the cruise and play a game together or bring a coloring book so that they can entertain themselves for 15 minutes in case they get bored.
Grease well
On the water, it often seems a lot less warm than it really is. Therefore, it is important to properly lubricate yourself and also the children. Often factor 30 is sufficient for yourself, but for the children it is wise to go for factor 50. Especially on the water, where the wind blows, you can easily get sunburned. Therefore, take a large ladies’ school bag with you, so that you can be sure to take everything with you. For example, your daughter’s school bag or maybe you still have one of your own lying around. This is not only unpleasant, but also harmful to your health. So rub in well, preferably every two hours.
