Cooking class for kids: Kenny Cooking!
On a cold Friday evening in February, we went to Van der Valk Nootdorp with the kids. And not just to eat, but for Kenny Koken!
Doing it yourself with Kenny Koken
Every Friday evening Van der Valk Nootdorp opens its doors for aspiring cooks aged 3 to 12. With the Kenny Koken Children’s Cooking Program, the cooks teach the children the basics of cooking in a playful way. Of course, they first get a real apron on and a chef’s hat on. The parents can relax and enjoy the à la carte menu. That way everyone has a good time. What a great night out!
What can you expect?
Besides the far too attractive chocolate fountain, kids can make their own pizza. They get to roll the dough themselves and choose what they want on it. The cooks then make sure the pizzas go into the oven and get back to the right little cooks. After the pizza, the children get to work on fries. They get to cut them themselves (with help from the cooks) and they also get to choose a snack (french fries or a portion of chicken nuggets). While the fries are getting golden brown, they are already working hard on dessert. The children get to roll their own cookie dough and cut out cookies. Since these have to go into the oven for a while, there is an alternative dessert: cotton candy! During the hard work, the children get to tap lemonade themselves. They love it!
Sociably busy
Kenny Cooking is very popular. So don’t expect a quiet evening. The restaurant is really full (so don’t forget to make reservations!). But the kids are having a great time, so then it’s quick for the parents too. The kids can also color in the coloring page while eating, so you literally don’t have to deal with them!
Additional Information
The Kenny Cooking Package costs €14.50 including drinks per child. The parents eat from the à la carte menu so prices of course vary. Kenny Cooking is every Friday evening from 17:00 to 20:00 because a new group starts every 15 minutes. So the kids never have to wait long. Besides, waiting next to a chocolate fountain is never boring. The offerings at Kenny Cooking may differ from above. In fact, burgers and poffertjes may also be on the menu.
