A fun outing to Avonturia the Bird Cellar
Sometimes you have a weekend where you have no idea what to do. You don’t feel like walking around an amusement park all day, much less spending that much money. After all, it’s just been a vacation and that was expensive enough. And it’s raining. In short, high time for an outing to Avonturia de Vogelkelder in The Hague!
The largest pet store in The Hague
You’d think you’d be bored at a pet store. But even if you don’t have pets of your own, you’re sure to enjoy yourself. And if not, your kids will! Avonturia de Vogelkelder is much more than a pet store. Besides the animal supplies they sell, it’s actually a mini zoo! In large parts of the store you can see all kinds of things even without paying admission. For example, at the entrance there is a large aviary with owls and a little further on you can look at the huge beaver rats.
Something for everyone
Of course, there are ordinary pets like rabbits, domestic rats, birds and huge numbers of fish. But you can also go for the more exotic varieties such as turtles, snakes, spiders (don’t worry, they are behind glass) and lizards. For each animal you can also get all the gear you need and they give very good advice. It is always quite busy, so keep that in mind.
Children’s party at Avonturia de Vogelkelder
Children have a great time at Avonturia de Vogelkelder. Kids feast their eyes at the Bird Cellar. There is plenty to see, but also plenty to do! There is an indoor pond with a waterfall and numerous free-roaming water birds and parrots! Children can go on an expedition to the adventure cave Avonturion for a few euros. Here they come face to face with desert foxes, meerkats, bats and even a giant spider! Expedition Bombay is just new and super fun and exciting to do! Or join the sand excavation and help archaeologists with their search for unusual caves.
Take a break at Brasserie de Oehoe
All that animal violence makes you hungry and thirsty. Fortunately, you can take a break at Brasserie de Oehoe. This brasserie can be found on the second floor, in the back of the store. Here you can choose delicious sandwiches, smoothies and children’s menus. You can also go there for an adventurous tea tasting!
Be sure to bring your dog!
In fact, there is a dog wash available. Very nice for people who do not have a bath or prefer not to have the mess of a soaking wet dog in the house. Is your pet sick? Then you can visit the animal clinic that is housed in the Bird Cellar. You do have to call first for this. You can immediately buy some treats for your sick pet in dog or cat world to comfort him or her for a while.
Children’s parties
Children’s parties can also be held at Avonturia the Bird Cellar. There is a choice of different components that can be combined as desired. For example, a good search and painting of treasure boxes or birdhouses can be chosen. Candles can be made from beeswax, children can learn all about animal tracks during the spore hunt and can pick out an owl ball. If that’s not enough adventure, they can learn how to prepare a grasshopper or break a lava ball themselves. To top it off, you also get to have your picture taken with your favorite animal, be it a snake or a spider.
