Moving more in the new year

The new year has begun! We are already living in 2025. And how quickly time has passed. Over the past few weeks we have all enjoyed delicious food and drink, gifts and lots of fun. But many of us have also decided to get back to work in good spirits. Working out and living healthier is invariably one of the most common resolutions. Because at the end of the day, we all want to be healthy and fit.
Get and stay in motion
Good resolutions always sound nice, but in practice we quickly let them slip.
That’s because we tend to go way too fast right away. You have to make time for more exercise, but if you feel you have to give up other things for it, you quickly become demotivated and fall back into your old pattern. So we give you some tips on how to fit more exercise into your daily life and have fun doing it, too.
Move more without taking time
Do you find it difficult to schedule exercise moments into your weekly schedule?
Then take a good look at how you can make optimal use of your time. Do your children attend swimming lessons, soccer, ballet or other sports? Often you will find a park or green area near your child’s sports club where it is nice to run. So go for a run or just take a nice walk.
But you can also very well do more exercise in your own home. For example, buy a hoop. If you hoop for just 10 minutes a day, you will soon feel that your abdomen, back, leg and buttock muscles feel stronger and firmer. Also, there are many different apps you can download that will allow you to do a full core workout in less than 10 minutes that will make your body stronger and more athletic. Just search the app store for “7 minute workout.
Working out with your kids
Do you have children? Then sports are totally easy to schedule into your daily life.
Try swinging (it’s really good for your leg muscles) or playing tag in the park. Climb a climbing apparatus again yourself! Participate in a game of soccer. You’ll find it does you good. Or combine a walk in the woods with a GPS scavenger hunt. Bet hiking won’t be boring then! Also fun: grab a bike together and let your child determine the route. You might end up in completely different places than usual!
Bad weather? Get out the Wii again and hold a dance marathon together with Just Dance.
Yoga
You don’t have to work up an instant sweat to still get your exercise, either.
Yoga, for example, is not only good for your body, but also for your mind. You are so occupied with your body that your problems fade into the background. In addition, it is relaxing and soothing. There are different yoga challenges to do, for example a 30-day yoga challenge.
Do you prefer step-by-step lessons? Then search Youtube for Yoga with Adriene. By the way, she also has a 30-day challenge that is really doable.
Cleaning is hard work
More exercise and a clean house? It can be done! Did you know that cleaning burns a lot of calories? Two birds with one stone! After all, keeping the house clean has to be done anyway, so why not challenge yourself to go the extra mile. That way your workout is over!
More walking and cycling
Do you live near your work? Then get on your bike and leave the car at home. Okay, in the winter it is not always attractive to take the bike, but it is healthy! Moreover, it has been shown that people who bike to work experience less stress at work. After all, you can completely clear your head and get the day off your chest. Is your work within walking distance? Then go for a walk, too! And try challenging yourself to find different routes to keep it special. Download your favorite Spotify music and go!
Of course it will take a little longer to get to work and back home, but you will have had your daily dose of exercise. working out in the evening will no longer be necessary!
More exercise together
How long has it been since you had a good conversation with that one friend? Because of Corona, we see each other less often so we miss much of each other’s lives. Go for a walk together! You are doing good things and you can really catch up again.
Taking a walk with your partner after dinner is also a good idea. When you do something together you really have time for each other. You will notice that your conversations will become more profound. Often a chat with your partner is something that happens quickly in between. And you are also moving around together!
