Clear your head with a fun hobby!

Sometimes it’s nice to clear your head and get busy with your hands. Making something beautiful or doing something you didn’t know you had in you. So our blog Crafting for Adults was well read by you. Hopefully beautiful things have already emerged from it and you have a new hobby. But there is much more! Therefore, the sequel to the earlier blog, but really focused on the hobby in its broadest form.
Making your own jewelry
Jewelry making with resin (casting resin) is wildly popular. You can vary enormously. For example, use dye, glitter or even dried flowers. Resin and the corresponding molds can be found at the better (online) hobby stores. It is fun to do and the result is great. Very nice to do for example with your teenage daughter. Also fun (and beautiful) to do is jewelry stamping with the so-called ImpressArt. You basically hammer your chosen text into a bracelet or pendant. Perfect for gifting.
Making kits
These days, there are such cool things on the hobby market! They just make you greedy. Take those great building kits that allow you to make a bookstore, plant greenhouse or Dora’s attic from BuilDIY kits, among others. They are not cheap, but they are very cute and guarantee hours of crafting fun. They even have lights in them which makes them look really cute even at night. Really fun to build and put down!
Puzzling
With jigsaw puzzles, many people think of those boring landscapes with lots of water and air. But there are so many other fun puzzles! Like the puzzles by Jan van Haasteren. These comic strip puzzles are very colorful and really anything happens! But also the Wasgij puzzles are fun because you make something you cannot see yet. So they are also very exciting and quite a challenge because you don’t have a picture of the end result. Everyone in the house can lend a hand, which makes it extra fun.
Online flower arranging
Do you like beautiful flowers in your home and do you like the way florists make the most beautiful creations? You can learn that too! There are countless flower arranging courses on the Internet that you can use to get started at home. Is your house already full or have you run out of vases? Then surely your lonely neighbor can appreciate a self-made flower. A fun and social hobby in other words!
Painting landscapes
Get outside and bring your easel and paint! Painting outdoors is very relaxing. Pick a nice spot in nature and just start! You certainly don’t have to be good at drawing because an abstract painting is just as beautiful. Want to bet that soon you will have a new, enjoyable hobby?
Painting by numbers
Do you prefer not to take a risk with an empty canvas, but would like to paint? Then painting by number is definitely recommended. Nowadays there are also packages for adults. You can buy them at different places but the website painting by numbers only offers this kind of artwork. You can spend some time with it and the result is amazing! Beautiful for on the wall or to give away to someone who can use something nice.
Make a nail painting
Something you can do all by yourself in your own environment is to make a nail painting. You can keep it simple by making a heart or challenge yourself by nailing the Girl with the Pearl Earring, for example.
You can find examples all over the Internet, including on Karwei.nl and on Pinterest. Fun to do and beautiful for on the wall!
Baking
For some reason, I always start baking when I am stressed. Not even because of the yummy baked goods, but to enjoy being busy. Kneading, peeling, mixing, it makes me happy. A nice side effect is that your whole house smells delicious. That also makes me happy. Afterwards you can enjoy it, but if you have a lot, it is also nice to give it away to someone who can use a boost.
Extensive cooking
Take those cookbooks off the shelf you look at once or twice a year and look up some nice dishes. Get (or order) the ingredients you need and take some time to cook. Fun to do with your partner on the weekend or just to make a weekday a little less weekday. Do you like this? Then you can make this return weekly!
Photography
Anyone can take pictures, but not everyone has an eye for a beautiful composition. You can learn that! You can take different courses online, but you can also go out and just try some things yourself. A good camera is nice to have, but if you have a good camera on your phone, that will suffice as well. Go out into nature or just take pictures in the city. Try to get animals in the picture such as birds or beautiful flowers. Or take a tour of all kinds of images in your own city. You can really do anything!
