Happy reading in the book cafe

In the fall, we all prefer to crawl on the couch with a book with a big cup of tea or mug of hot chocolate. Still, you have those moments when you want to dream away in your book, but still want to get out the door. Nowadays there are plenty of places where reading and having a drink are combined precisely for that reason.
Bookstores with a coffee corner or even a real book café, a coffee bar with a reading table or a library with a café. We searched for you for the best places where reading and drinking are combined.

Reading and coffee in The Hague
Bookstor is a book café on the Royal Noordeinde in The Hague. Books have been sold in the historic building for many years and the entire café in its modern setting still exudes this. Both outside on the cozy terrace and inside at a table you can enjoy delicious cups of coffee and homemade treats. Meanwhile, you are surrounded by impressive bookcases full of beautiful books that you can peruse on the spot and copies that you can purchase for home. Pay Bookstor a visit, enjoy and feast your eyes.
Bookstore Paagman we all know. But on the Frederik Hendriklaan in The Hague you will find in this bookstore the Kicking Horse Café. In this book café with Canadian atmosphere you can feast on a nice breakfast, delicious lunch and a changing evening menu during the week. Be sure to bring your children, because there is plenty to do for them as well. Sit in a corner with a book, a muffin and lemonade. Or cook for yourself on the first Wednesday of every month during the Children’s Cooking Café.
More than just books in Rotterdam
Literary Café Huis Der Zotheid in Rotterdam is a very special place. Everything comes together here. Books, reading, concerts, exhibitions, films, lectures and good food and drinks. Enjoy a delicious NY Coffee and piece of Wilma’s Cake while you browse through the beautiful collection of books or participate in one of the various activities. Be sure to bring your child on Wednesday afternoons, as there are always lots of fun activities for kids, such as the Waffle Club, Cooking Club and Movie Club.
The best library in the Netherlands is in Gouda
The Chocolate Factory in Gouda is my personal favorite. This special building houses the local city library, the regional archive of Midden-Delfland, the old printers’ workshop and lunchroom Kruim.
Take a seat at one of Kruim’s tables for a delicious bread lunch, tasty pie, fresh juice, cup of coffee or glass of wine. Or dive into one of the cozy corners of the library with a good book and take your time. Children are welcome here.
They are also fine with you taking a seat in the café while the kids dive into the library’s beautiful books. But beware! If they jump down the stairs, they will be sold to the circus…. 😊.
