Ingeborg escapegame La Casa de Papel

At the end of August we and some of our readers were invited to Escaperoom TIME in Utrecht for the exciting escapegame La Casa de Papel! Now we at OpstapmetLisa are big fans of this Netflix series which is already on its5th season and we are well into the story. Some of our guests were not yet familiar with this series, so they went into the game completely blank.

In this blog series we will let one of the participants tell how they experienced this escape game in which you have to use a combination of a room and a complete VR environment to search for codes and tips to finally crack the safe.

This time you can read about the experiences of Ingeborg

What did she expect?

“I am not an experienced escaperoom visitor, in fact I have only done it once before. But I definitely like games and always want to win. So I expected beforehand that this game was also for me. Only that VR, is it for me! I have worn such glasses before, and I found it a strange experience. I was mainly disoriented. So I had indicated beforehand that I would rather not wear them.”

And what did Ingeborg think of the game?

“Upon entering the room, I found it mostly very empty, but very spacious. Especially in this day and age where distance is essential, that was nice. This was still a bit of a concern, because aren’t we sitting too close together? During the installation I immediately started looking for locks, which had to be solved… I had learned this from last time. So the battle was on.

After the introduction we immediately started working on the assignments, which was easy to do with 4 people. We decided to work in pairs. I thought, I’ll start with the VR glasses, then I’ll immediately know if that’s what for me. And that was actually a lot of fun! You really had to work together, because what you saw there was in turn related to what was in the room. So in the end the room was very much filled, only then sometimes you would see something in the VR glasses and then again in real-live. And the advantage of the spacious “empty” room is that you could keep a good distance from the objects where you had to look for hints. They also had this clearly marked with lines on the floor.

We were evenly matched, the struggle between us was palpable. That of course motivates more and more to continue. But unfortunately, where we were slightly ahead, the other team (white) made a final sprint that we unfortunately could not catch up with.

The discharge at the end was also wonderful to see and we dove straight into the evaluation. Where did it go well, what spoke for itself and what were the problems we encountered. We didn’t run out of things to talk about. In short, a very fun escaperoom and definitely Coronaproof…!”
