The Hague is a city where you can stroll, shop, and enjoy yourself endlessly. Whether you like large chains, unique boutiques, local specialty shops, or creative concept stores, you will find it all within walking distance of each other in the Hofstad. The combination of historic buildings, lively squares, and a mix of international and local shops makes a day of shopping in The Hague always fun and varied.

Shopping streets in The Hague city center

Spuistraat and Grote Marktstraat

Spuistraat and Grote Marktstraat are The Hague’s main shopping streets and the perfect starting point for your shopping route. These two parallel streets are bursting with large chain stores and international brands. Here you will find the beautiful Bijenkorf, an iconic department store with a luxury range of fashion, cosmetics, and homewares. You can also visit H&M, ZARA, Peek & Cloppenburg, We Fashion, Pull & Bear, Footlocker, and many more. The great thing is that these streets are very close together, so you can easily hop back and forth.

Grote Marktstraat is a pleasant, car-free area, which makes it very enjoyable. This area is buzzing with energy, especially on Sundays when shops are open and busy shopping days.

Venestraat

Venestraat crosses The Hague’s shopping area. This street has a cozy, more boutique-like feel than Spuistraat. Here you will find hipper items and more niche brands. Shop at Cos, Mango, Pieces, Pandora, and Rituals. There are also nice places to eat where you can grab a cup of coffee or a snack in between shopping.

De Passage

De Passage is not just any shopping promenade. It is a piece of history and one of The Hague’s most beautiful 19th-century showpieces. This is the oldest shopping area in the Netherlands and runs from Spuistraat to the Binnenhof. The passage exudes elegance and charm with its characteristic arches, high ceilings, and atmospheric shopping experience.

In De Passage, you will find a mix of exclusive fashion boutiques, jewelry stores, and lifestyle specialty shops. Shop at luxury brands such as Gerry Weber, La Ligne, and MANGO. There is also the beautiful gift shop Van Os for bags and suitcases, and for design and interior enthusiasts, there is DOK. For those who love sweets, Leonidas and Nespresso can also be found here. In between, you can relax on one of the benches in this serene environment.
Passage Den Haag
The opening of the newer part of De Passage (between Spuistraat and Grote Marktstraat) has made this already popular center even more attractive. The HEMA and Bijenkorf department stores are right next door, so you can easily spend a whole day shopping here.
