Our guest blogger Ingeborg recently took a tour of Duck Tours Westland. This was in honor of her parents’ 50th wedding anniversary. And it was a great success! You can read all about it in her blog.

Duck Tours Westland

In the middle of Corona time, my parents were married for 50 years. A special moment that couldn’t really be celebrated. Still we wanted to give the Golden couple a day full of memories, just like 50 years ago. I am from Westland myself, so I have seen the famous 2CVs of Eenden Tours Westland touring regularly. That was the solution for this day! Separate transportation, but still together. And even better, an “old duck” was my parents’ first car. So it was soon 1 1 = 2CV 😉 .

Duck Tours Westland offers fun and beautiful routes in the region, but for this time we opted for a route of our own. So we could make a ‘Tour de mémoires’ for my parents; past their birth homes, wedding location,1st home and so much more. At Duck Tours Westland that is also an option, we rented the cars for a whole day.

Reception

It was a tight schedule that day, everything was measured out to the minute, so we arrived quite “stressed”. But upon arrival, the first thing we were told was: from now on there is no stress, you are going to enjoy the day. And the man from Duck Tours Westland was absolutely right about that! After the formalities, we got a good explanation through an introductory film. Okay, it all sounded easy, but still… It’s a bit different from today’s ‘high-tech’ cars. Time was also taken with the cars. Each driver was once again explained; how to start and drive it. After 2x almost ‘drowning’ even I managed!!! And we could hit the road! The first turns and intersections took some getting used to, but after that, driving went like a breeze.

On route

The cars are real, real cars. Radio you don’t need, enough sound from the engine. And the hand-operated air vents and wipers, provides plenty of activity for the co-driver 😉 . Oh, and of course reading and pointing out the route. Time flew by. Everywhere we went, we had plenty of onlookers. Besides the fact that we could be heard from a distance, they remain just beautiful cars to look at. As I said, they are still real cars! The day flew by, my parents had wonderful day and we were able to make many great memories again. Thank you Ducks Tours Westland! We are looking forward to a next time, because it is definitely coming!

Greetings,
Ingeborg
