Photo gift: for original photo gifts

Our guest blogger Marian has been trying out some fun stuff again. She is happy to share her experiences with you! This time she tried out a photo puzzle from Fotocadeau. Read on to find out how she liked it:
Marian: During the Corona era, we became even more puzzle fanatics than we already were. It started with a 1000 piece puzzle my son got for his lockdown birthday. We did that one a lot during those first few months. We can dream of that puzzle by now. Time for something new!
Vacation photo puzzle
Last May we were in Drenthe on vacation in Hooghalen on a very nice campsite: Tikvah. On the edge of the forest, the Milky Way trail within walking distance, Westerbork within walking distance, beautiful bike trails through the Drentsche Aa and a good Scottish restaurant around the corner in Hooghalen. Not having to cook is a real vacation for me! The Boomkroonpad is also nearby and beautiful; another blog with nice outings later.
In Bovensmilde started a tulip route that we drove. A column of cars in the twilight along the beautifully lit tulip fields. I got my four men beautifully photographed, if I do say so myself. Now we thought of having that photo made into a puzzle through Photo on Puzzle. When we saw the many options on the site, we chose to have another beautiful photo turned into a puzzle. We chose a reclining colorful photo of the five of us in 500 pieces with box. The tulip route photo we had printed in 1000 pieces, also in deluxe version with nice photo box. It took some puzzling 😉 on the site to combine the right photo with the right size in terms of puzzle, so that there is not something just missing in the picture. You can clearly see on the preview whether it will fit or not. That’s nice.
School photo
I also wanted to do something nice with the boys’ school picture. You get greedy when you’re on Fotocadeau. That photo turned out to be a bit more difficult to edit. It was not suitable as a puzzle because of the very white background (otherwise it would be a puzzle for pros!). You can enlarge the photo by zooming in, but this was not possible with the school photo because too many legs fell off. Hence, we still chose a colorful photo for the photo puzzle. So pay special attention to the color background and the size of the photo in combination with the size of the puzzle. Lying down and standing do not go well together. Logical too.
Since I still wanted something with the cute school photo, -once I have something in my head…- I had the photo personalized on a keychain. That photo was already sent ahead and I had it in the house earlier in a mini envelope. All three of my sons wanted it on their bikes while I ordered the keychain for myself. So that turns out to be a very nice gift idea. For the kids themselves but also for example for Father’s Day.
Easy to order
The ordering process is easy, I was also well informed about the progress by e-mail. Like the fact that after paying for the order nothing can be changed. Then the picture enters the process of customization. Since these are not standard products from a warehouse, what you order today will not arrive tomorrow. Take your time with it. With me, it was in the house four or five days after I ordered it. Still very fast then!
We all finished the colorful 500-piece puzzle very quickly! Then we left the puzzle for a few days because the boys really enjoyed looking at it. I didn’t expect how excited they were to puzzle themselves and each other anyway. Very fun! We also still don’t have pictures on the wall. That has been on my to do list for 16 years, as well as making all the photo albums. Then a photo moment like this in between is really a gift!
Fun activity
The 1000 piece puzzle will keep us busy for a while. Four blue coats, lots of red tulips and a blue twilight sky. A challenging puzzle we had printed that we can’t dream of for the time being! 😉
Another plus from Fotocadeau: the puzzles arrived at my house very well packaged and in tiptop order. Not a single printing error and beautiful quality. A real photo gift!
Greetings from Marian
