Special dining in the Hoftrammm

Besides our own discoveries, we are always very curious about those of our readers. For example, Anneke recently went out to dinner with her husband in the Hoftrammm. A luxurious streetcar in which they enjoyed a delicious 5-course dinner while being driven around our own Hofstad. In her guest blog, Anneke talks about the special night out.
Special dinner out
The other day the two of us went out to dinner with the Hoftrammm. The Hoftrammm is a moving streetcar restaurant that runs from Voorburg to The Hague center and Scheveningen. From the outside it looks classic, but inside it is spacious, modern and atmospheric. The restaurant is fully equipped and has a professional kitchen on board! The boarding point is Voorburg Station, so on to Voorburg. The Hofftramm was right on time and upon entering we were hospitably received by the hostess and taken to our reserved table. On the table there was already a snack abri ready with a ‘ton sur ton’ of corn. With this they served the Hoftrammm serenade: a welcome drink with the musical wink.
Small detour
When everyone has arrived we leave. We have to make a small detour because one of the guests turned out to be waiting at the wrong station. It is a very special experience to see people waiting at all the stops for the streetcar to go home for dinner, while we are sitting at a luxurious table with our snack and drink. There is plenty of opportunity to relax, look around and chat.
A 5-course dinner by Pierre Wind
After the appetizer abri, we will have the starter. This is a composition of smoked salmon served with piccalilli cream a cold pineapple tomato soup with a beet stalk. A matching wine is served with each dish. Then we get a bell pepper broth as an intermediate course with a green asparagus flan with parma ham. This one is really delicious! The main course consists of truffle tenderloin and a beef stew with eggplant purée, sweet potatoes and orange gravy. With this we have a red wine. The nice thing is that you get combinations you never really thought about that much. The Executive Chef at the Hoftrammm is none other than Pierre Wind. He is responsible for the dishes and their presentation. As the city passes us by, it is time for dessert. This is a beautiful combination of strawberry, baba vodka, chocolate garni and a marshmallow .
Nice tour of The Hague
In the meantime we have already gone via Scheveningen and the Zwartepad towards the harbor. From there we went back to Voorburg via the city center. The atmosphere in the streetcar is relaxed and cozy, we also talked among ourselves at the tables. The sanitary facilities are also good: separate towels to dry your hands. Also handy: you don’t have to worry about the glasses falling over because a recess has been made in the table. We are glad we made this special culinary trip. The hostess and also streetcar driver made the evening a small party. Definitely worth repeating!
