Would you like to have a real evening dinner? Then a dinner show at De Avenue in Breda is definitely a must!

A complete evening out

I had never been to a dinner show before so I was pleasantly surprised that the annual weekend of Erik (my boyfriend) his work was going to visit one. I was very curious. Of course I had an image of it, because everyone knows those commercials of those huge productions by Joop van den Ende. I went in completely blank.

Beautiful building

The Avenue is located in the center of Breda and therefore easily accessible. The theater is in a beautiful old building that used to be a hidden church. Inside are many details from the past. This makes the building very characteristic.

But it also radiates very much “theater”. For example, there are old carousel horses hanging in the ceiling near the checkroom. We were with a party of about 60 people and the room was fine for that. It was certainly large enough but still cozy and intimate. The tables were placed so that everyone had a good view of the stage.

Friendly staff

The service people laid into us right away. It was quite cold where we sat, so when we pointed that out, something was done about it right away. Then we were given the menu. On it were 4 courses that were completely theater style.

There was a “reception” of tomato soup with sandwiches, a “preliminary program” of beef carpaccio, shrimp cocktail or couscous salad, a “main program” of Headhare, Victoria Perch or the Vegaburger d’Avenue and an “encore” of panna cotta. Once we had passed on our choices, it was off to the start.

Vivencia

There are a lot of different dinner shows you can book at The Avenue, but we got to see the show Vivencia. This show is labeled as a real dinner show. We were welcomed by some kind of presenter who talked the show together. At first he reminded me a bit of the circus director. Shortly thereafter, two ladies and a man came on stage. They started singing and dancing for us. The atmosphere was a little Burlesque and Moulin Rouge, so all pretty sexy. After their performance, tomato soup was served. It was kind of nice that there were no performances during dinner so you could enjoy the food in peace.

More and more fun

De Avenue met collega'sAs the evening progressed, it became more and more fun and cozy. And that really wasn’t just because of the wine. 😉 The songs became more and more upbeat and accessible, and funnily enough, the dancers also got more and more dressed up! Carefully, the first people began to dance along.

During the Elvis medley, a birthday lady from our party was put in the spotlight. The appetizer was also delicious and everyone got more and more into the mood. After the main course, the presenter himself took the stage for some delicious classics. In doing so, he was joined by some of Erik’s colleagues. That was very funny.

Feet off the floor

After that, things went wild and everyone was on the dance floor. One hit after another was played so everyone was dancing and singing along to their heart’s content. Then it was time for dessert and a nice cup of coffee. After the coffee, a group photo was even taken with all the entertainers. It was really a super fun and successful evening!

Also for small groups

Now you might think that a dinner show at The Avenue is only accessible for large groups, but that is not so. You can already join a dinner show at the Avenue if you are just the two of you. They have a whole calendar full of fun shows to choose from. So with your partner, girlfriends or colleagues, this is an unforgettable night out. You can even celebrate your wedding there! So all to The Avenue!
