In our capital city there are lots of different restaurants with food from lots of different countries. That’s what makes Amsterdam so much fun! We went looking for the best restaurants in Amsterdam. The choice was huge but in order not to make the blog too long, our favorites have been given a place here.

Deliciously Dutch – The Dutch Pot

In our blog about restaurants in Amsterdam, a typical Dutch restaurant couldn’t be missing, of course. De Hollandse Pot in Korte Leidsedwarsstraat serves Dutch dishes with a modern twist. Mashed potatoes, pea soup, poffertjes, bitterballen, eel and herring: what more could you want! For those less enamored with Dutch cuisine, order a tasty salad.

Delicious Italian at La Maschera

In the heart of Amsterdam’s Jordaan area you will find the small but cozy Italian restaurant La Maschera Lillo Tatini. Owners Frederico and Marco met abroad and decided to embark on a culinary adventure together in Amsterdam. Both have worked in top restaurants in Sydney, London and Dubai, among others, and now we can enjoy their cooking skills in the Netherlands! Everything is homemade and all ingredients come from their native regions: Umbria and Tuscany.

Vegetarian dining out – at Betty’s

Vegetarian Restaurant Betty’s has been a household name in Amsterdam since 1988. Mother Rivka baked a lot and son Gido threw himself passionately into the savory delights. Rivka has since handed over the reins to Lien and together with Gido she bakes and cooks the most delicious vegetarian pies and dishes. Gluten-free and vegan is also possible. Besides the most delicious dishes you can also come here for inspiring workshops.

Heart-Garden: a sweet heaven

At Heart-Garden you eat the tastiest and most beautifully made waffles in Amsterdam. This cozy waffle restaurant uses its own homemade batter with which the waffles are freshly baked on the spot. And then there are more than 35 different toppings to choose from, ranging from strawberries to vegan bacon and from avocado to blueberries. The toppings are carefully placed on top so that the waffle looks like a true work of art. Highly instragammable! And they even have vegan and gluten-free waffles! There are also delicious smoothies and delectable barista coffee. The owner also teaches meditation classes, so the atmosphere in the restaurant is wonderfully zen.

Miss Scarlett

In Amsterdam-Zuidoost you will find the cozy café restaurant miss Scarlett. Actually, you can enjoy yourself here all day long, from coffee with some goodies to dinner with delicious wrong desserts. At miss Scarlett they serve worldly dishes with a special twist. Delicious comfort food, tasty drinks and a casual atmosphere. And near the Ziggo Dome, too! Super convenient if you end your evening with a smashing concert.

Grandma Ietje

The name alone makes us hot: Oma Ietje. And that is exactly what this restaurant in Amsterdam stands for. A safe haven for everyone! In addition, they also like to pamper you with the most delicious dishes. Lunch is served nice and long (from 11:30 am to 4:00 pm) so no need to rush. Because Grandma Ietje doesn’t like that! Grandma Ietje is also close to the Ziggo Dome, so super convenient if you want to grab a bite to eat before your concert.

Zushi – for the tastiest sushi

You see it quite often in Asia: eating sushi on the conveyor belt. In the Netherlands, Zushi is one of the few sushi restaurants with a dip fun concept. Besides the cold dishes from the conveyor belt, the restaurant also serves delicious hot dishes. Truly an outing in itself! You can find Zushi on the Amstel River near the Kleine Komedie.

Last but not least – Scala Foodbar & Theater

Scala Foodbar & Theater offers a unique concept in the Netherlands: it combines an evening of theater with the tastiest snacks! It is a unique location with a Pick ‘n Mix method: a combination of food bar and theater in one. In the souterrain of Scala Amsterdam there are 3 different performances per evening, each lasting 20 minutes. Before, between and after the performances, visitors have the opportunity to have a drink in the cozy food bar (or on our terrace) and eat (vegetarian and partly vegan) dishes. Truly a fun and complete night out!
