There is nothing better than escaping the hustle and bustle of the day and cozily enjoying a delicious lunch. Whether you’re having lunch with a friend, your partner or just want to enjoy it alone, a cozy lunch spot can make all the difference. In this blog, we share some great spots and tips for a cozy lunch experience!

Cozy lunch spots with a homey feel

When you’re looking for a place to have a cozy lunch, it’s often not just about the food, but also the atmosphere. Think small, charming cafes with wooden tables, warm lighting and soft cushions. Here are a few of our favorite lunch spots that perfectly capture that homey feeling:

• Lunchroom the Koffiekamer: In the heart of the Veluwe, just outside Ede, you’ll find Boerderij Hoekelum, an idyllic spot in green surroundings where you can unwind in their lunchroom, the Koffiekamer. You can completely unwind here with a book or magazine from the bookcase or from the reading ladder, or even spend a day flex-working in peace. But you can also sit here with company over a sumptuous lunch or high tea.
• Het Tuinhuis: Another wonderful place where you will feel right at home is Het Tuinhuis in Aalsmeer. You will find Het Tuinhuis in the center, near the museum the Historical Garden and right on the water, where you have a wonderful view of the water birds and boats passing by.
• Oma Ietje: Also in bustling Amsterdam is a lunch spot where you already feel like you’re at home upon entering, namely at Oma Ietje. At Oma Ietje it’s all about a nice feeling. This is reflected in the cozy terrace, the friendly atmosphere of the restaurant and the comfort food dishes from around the world that they give their own twist. Oma Ietje is a café, restaurant and meeting place all in one. But above all, a warm haven where you can always go and feel welcome. There is always something delicious simmering on the stove and a party is never far away.

Choose comfort food

Comfort food and cozy lunches go hand in hand. It’s all about food that warms you, both literally and figuratively. Think warm, full dishes, beautiful colors and heart-warming flavors. When I think of comfort food, I think of loaded fries, of apple pie, but also of street food. Here are some restaurants where both the atmosphere and the menu give you the ultimate comfort food feeling

• Hanno: Hanno in Delft is there for explorers and homecomers. Here you enjoy delicious street food dishes from all corners of the world and imagine yourself in an exotic environment. With all small seats and corners, different tables and chairs and a lot of colorful colors, decorated with tropical plants, this is a place where you can relax and enjoy special dishes.

Delicious comfort drinks

With a cozy lunch comes a hot beverage, of course. Whether you choose a cappuccino, a cup of tea or maybe even a hot chocolate with whipped cream, it adds something special to your lunch moment. Some of my favorite hot drinks to order with:

• Chai latte: A spicy, creamy treat that is perfect for a cozy lunch especially in the fall and winter.
• Fresh mint tea with honey: Simple, fresh and warming. The smell alone is relaxing.
• Orange cinnamon tea: This is not available everywhere, but drinking this simple tea, with just a cinnamon stick and two slices of orange, will automatically make you feel totally relaxed.
• Hot chocolate with marshmallows: Especially on cold days, there is nothing more warming than a mug full of hot chocolate. Add a few marshmallows for that extra cozy feeling. For example, after a lovely walk in Recreation Area Ouderkerkerplas, enjoy a delicious hot chocolate at Paviljoen a/d PLAS.

Lunch in your own home

A cozy lunch is mostly about enjoying the moment. Of course, should you prefer to enjoy a cozy lunch at home, that is also a very fine option. Create a cozy lunch setting at home with these simple tips:

• Set up a nice little table with a tablecloth, some nice plates and warm colors. It immediately makes your lunch moment a lot more special.
• Make a warm soup or quiche that you can share with friends or family. It’s simple, but gives a lovely homey feeling.
• Provide soft background music: Music sets the mood. Choose quiet, acoustic music or maybe even some jazz in the background.
