The best tapas restaurants

We Dutch love tapas. Small bites that are shared with a company at the table. And that is also reflected in the restaurant landscape in the Netherlands. In every place you can find a cozy and intimate tapas restaurant. And more and more restaurants are serving different tapas alongside their regular menu. This year we have again searched for the best tapas restaurants and give you our recommendations here.
Tia Rosa Tapas Amsterdam
On one of the most beautiful canals in Amsterdam you will find this gem. At Tia Rosa on the Reguliersgracht 11 you really imagine yourself in Spain. Expect delicious wines and an extensive menu of typical Spanish tapas. Curious? Then take a look at their website. The atmosphere is authentic Spanish, here you are guaranteed to find a good place!
Creating a piece of Spain with a large dose of Dutch accessibility in Amsterdam. Tapas restaurant Tia Rosa wants its guests to experience a Spanish feeling by letting them enjoy tasty wines and tapas. The special Spanish top wines, including Torres wines, have been successfully produced for over 300 years. And now also served at Tia Rosa Tapas restaurant in Amsterdam. The interior plays a big role here with their wooden wine barrels, large marble bar and wooden tables inlaid with Spanish mosaic. Besides Spanish wines, you also have special Spanish beers here or just a delicious Heineken.
In the kitchen, where all the magic happens, is chef José Perez who has nearly 30 years of experience in this business. Perez, a born and raised Spaniard, has inherited cooking from home. He creates the most delicious traditional tapas with a modern twist.
Triana The Hague
If you want to eat real Spanish tapas, but just in our own little country, then you should definitely not skip Triana in The Hague! This Spanish Tapas restaurant makes Tapas as they are meant to be. Not only the delicious, extensive menu will put you in a Spanish mood. The entire restaurant exudes Spain. The interior, the decor, the bar and the Spanish staff. This must in the Kettingstraat in The Hague.
La Oliva Gouda
The originally Mediterranean Restaurant La Oliva on the Market in Gouda is also highly recommended. When you enter the restaurant you will be amazed by all the beauty on the wall. If you are with a larger party you can sit at the large table by the window.
From here you overlook not only the entire restaurant, but also the pleasant Gouda Market Square. We indulged ourselves here with a tasting of tapas dishes; the La Oliva tapas. And everything on the beautifully prepared plates was finger food.
Destino Rotterdam
In the Old North of Rotterdam, imagine yourself in Mediterranean spheres at Destino on the Zaagmolenkade. This cozy tapas restaurant, with terrace on the quay along the Rotte, serves modern tapas dishes that would certainly not be out of place in Madrid or Barcelona. All dishes are prepared with care and love and prepared with carefully selected and honest products from their own region.
So sit down and be pampered by host Reinbert and his team and enjoy the delicious tapas, wines, beers and overall atmosphere. You are welcome every day except Monday for a drink or dinner and on weekends also for an extensive lunch.
Owner Reinbert used to work in Destino’s kitchen and since he took over the restaurant a few years ago, he is still closely involved in the composition of the dishes and will tell you about it with passion and enthusiasm. But ultimately you just have to experience the delicious flavors for yourself, so come taste and enjoy.
Milu The Hague
At Milu everything is about tasting. So no typical Spanish tapas restaurant, but small bites to enjoy as many flavors as possible. The snacks here range from oyster, shiitake croquettes, truffle risotto to sushi and fries with mustard mayonnaise. Something for everyone, but in a special way.
Tapas Bar Catalá Amsterdam
In Amsterdam’s Spuistraat you’ll find a very special tapas restaurant. At Tapas Bar Catalá are not just any tapas served, but authentic Catalan dishes. So plenty of dishes from the Mediterranean such as oysters, razor clams, langoustines, shrimp and of course sardines and squid. But in addition you can also enjoy delicious ham, lamb sausages, tenderloin, meatballs and jack. Everything you have eaten during your vacations in Catalonia can be found here.
Retiro Arnhem
Retiro is a tapas restaurant where everything is about coming together. Chef Toni does everything to make it your favorite spot here. Food, drinks and atmosphere come together and make you feel like you are in Spain in our own Arnhem. A delicious tapas restaurant with real Spanish delicacies. Retiro is also a stone’s throw from the GelreDome. So combine your concert evening with a nice dinner at Retiro or one of the other restaurants in Arnhem we can recommend.
Tapas & Mezzes Delft
Mezzes and Tapas has a unique concept. The Spanish feeling is combined with Greek hospitality. On the menu Spanish and Greek snacks are completely mixed. You can taste and enjoy both. And at the end of the evening, the Greek owner often joins you for a chat and a small drink to end the evening.
