The best tips to do at home

Well, the Corona virus. Everyone is talking about it, it is constantly on the news, fun events are cancelled and when you have a cold you are not allowed out of the house. In quarantine! High time to make it extra cozy at home! Of course we have tips for you.
Hold a movie marathon or binge a good series
Watching a movie or a series is wonderfully relaxing and fun to do. You can rewatch an old movie or series on DVD or discover something new on Netflix and Videoland.
Netflix
On Netflix, the selection is nice and varied. Among other things, there are a lot of Scandinavian thriller series on there. Great for a few hours of entertainment. Watch for example Brot, Wisting, The Bridge, Springflood (Springfloden) and series Q. Delicious! For an oppressive series, we absolutely recommend the British series Broadchurch. But also The Stranger by Harlan Coben is an absolute must.
Romantic series are also available. Virgin River is a very nice series to watch as is Chesapeake Shores. Doctor Foster is a wonderful drama and Elite is a fun Spanish series. I also really enjoyed “Cheer” a documentary about cheerleaders in America. Very impressive. Locke & Key is again a bit bizarre (but fun) and the films El Silencio de la Ciudad Blanco (English spoken) and Lost Girls are also delightful.
In short, there is plenty to watch! By the way, my son is totally hooked on The Inbestigators. Really great fun to watch too.
Videoland
There is also plenty to watch on Videoland. Lovers of medical series are in the right place there with Grey’s Anatomy and The Good Doctor (although I can’t quite separate that guy from the Bates Motel (Netflix, also a lot of fun). Killing Eve and the The Handmaid’s Tale are also very good series. From Dutch soil, Meisje van Plezier, Nieuwe Buren and De 12 van Shouwendam are not bad at all.
Also worth seeing are the films The Breakup, Bridesmaids and The Beach House. And in case you get completely bored, you can always go watch Temptation Island (my ultimate guilty pleasure).
Enjoying a Spa Day
You might not normally have time for an elaborate bathing ritual, but sometimes it’s really nice to pamper yourself. With a facial mask or a long bath. Also nice to try out all the samples you have collected over the years. Then snuggle up on the couch in your pajamas with a nice magazine. Nice music on. Not bad, right?
Reading
Look at the situation from the positive side and finally start reading that stack of books that have been gathering dust on your nightstand. Or that stack of magazines you never got around to. Don’t have any books in the house? We have plenty of tips for you in our book blogs. On your tablet you can easily download e-books. That way you don’t have to leave the house and still have something to do.
Not a real reader? Then try an audiobook. There are audiobook apps that you can try for free for a certain period of time. And who knows, you may never want anything else, because you can do it at home or on the go! W
Be creative!
Get busy with needle and thread, color or do something crafty. Scour Pinterest for fun ideas or read our previously published blog. By the way, not really creative but fun: get out that puzzle book again!
With the kids
Are you sitting at home with the kids? Then hanging in front of the TV all day is not a good idea. Go play a game together, because that’s always fun. From a simple card game to monopoly, anything is possible. Or get the Lego out of the attic and make something beautiful. Build a parking lot with Duplo for the cars or get crafty. What is also fun, for example, is to cut out pictures from an old magazine and use them to create a kind of funny comic strip. Also fun: put on nice music and create a real disco.
Or build a tent and tell each other exciting stories. Is your son or daughter a little older and therefore more difficult to keep busy? Let them take an online typing course. This is also useful without them even realizing it.
A (sort of) new home!
A good cleanup can also be an option if you are forced to sit at home. You can finally tackle the attic. Or move some furniture around so that your home suddenly has a completely different look. If you don’t like it, you can always put it back.
Well, all these measures are no fun, but unfortunately they are necessary for a while. Everything comes to an end, including this virus. You just have to make yourself as comfortable as possible at home, right?
