The mystery of Loki in the preHistoric Village

Our guest blogger Pauline has been out and about with her family for OpstapmetLisa. They played the escape game Het Mysterie van Loki in the preHistorisch Dorp in Eindhoven. In this blog she tells you all about it!
The Mystery of Loki
Last weekend it was finally time: we, a family with 2 adolescents, together with friends, also with 2 adolescents, went to the preHistoric Village in Eindhoven. For us this was the first visit to the village, but our friends had been here before when their kids were little. Then it was to play and discover everything and now the idea was to solve the Mystery of Loki. This is an escape game that you play in the park.
Quietly starting the game
We were enthusiastically welcomed and given the explanation with all the props we needed to complete the game. There is no time limit on the Mystery of Loki, except that it does have to be solved before closing time. Things got off to a good start with a cup of coffee and tea. At the Inn, especially when the sun is shining, you can sit comfortably. Our adolescents had already started to see what we all had to do and before we knew it they had solved the first question!
Don’t think too hard… that’s hard!
Perhaps it is good to mention that we have all done escape rooms before. Usually one with a time element, so we had to slow down the youngsters a bit. We also wanted to participate and we were in no hurry! After our drink, we started walking through the park and you come across places where you have to solve something. The advice was not to think too hard when solving the riddles, which is sometimes quite difficult. Since there were eight of us, there was always someone who had a good idea or suddenly saw the solution.
At leisure through the preHistoric Village
In between we also had a go at archery. Which is more difficult than we thought. It was pleasantly crowded in the preHistoric Village and everywhere there were people dressed in the clothes of the past, practicing the crafts of the past. Because the game has no time limit, you can look around at your leisure. You can therefore enjoy your day out extra. That does make the game extra fun!
You can ask for a hint
In only one question did we need a hint. Fortunately, there is a clever way to get one and we were able to use it to solve the question. The questions led us through the entire village and after about 1.5 hours we had unraveled the mystery and could collect our prize: a game from that time. Since we love games, we tried them out while enjoying a drink and a Brabant sausage roll. After the game we still had some time left and we baked bread the way it was done in those days.
Definitely recommended!
The preHistoric Village is definitely worth a visit and if you go with older children then the Mystery of Loki is definitely recommended! In our opinion the game can be played by children as young as 12 years old, of course with parents present. Because that makes it extra fun! Take plenty of time during the game or afterwards to enjoy this nicely set up village with the many friendly people who work there. Also check the website for activities. In summer, the village is also inhabited for several weeks and on some days there is a market. So a nice outing for young and old alike!
