Budget-friendly and sustainable activities in the middle of nature

Feel like getting away from it all and completely relaxing? In this blog you will find different activities that cost almost nothing and are also sustainable. This will make your weekend away in the middle of nature even more special and you will be able to get back to it with a new dose of energy.
Choose a beautiful location
It all starts with choosing a wonderful location for your weekend getaway; some providers even donate part of their turnover to nature projects. Think of a cozy cottage in the middle of the woods or an accommodation overlooking the water. Choose a location that makes you feel relaxed from the start. After all, having a cup of coffee or tea with a beautiful view is already an activity in itself.
Pay attention to the amenities
When picking your temporary nature cottage, also pay attention to any amenities. Think about a sauna, bath or the use of a barbecue. That way you’ll have some fun things to do right away that don’t even require you to leave the house.
Creative photo shoot
Capturing your memories is a fun activity to do together and all you need is your phone. Take romantic photos of the two of you, or fun snapshots of your whole family. Get some inspiration beforehand and you will find that you too are a photographer. There are many creative ways to take beautiful pictures.
Drying leaves and/or flowers
If you are staying in a green environment, it is great fun to collect beautiful leaves, branches and/or flowers during your walk. This way, you will see your surroundings from a completely different point of view. Let your finds dry, by hanging them or crushing them under a heavy book. Turn them into a drying bouquet or glue crushed flowers onto a piece of cardboard to make a nice little painting. That way you’ll soon have a tangible keepsake you can enjoy for years to come. (You can find lots of inspiration on sites like Pinterest.)
Beachcombing
If you are staying at the beach, have you thought about beachcombing? Collect shells, sea glass and other fun finds. Later, put them in a glass jar, possibly with some sand from the beach where you enjoyed the peace and quiet so much. Write an inspirational quote on the jar with a waterproof marker to remind yourself to enjoy life even during busy times. You can also immediately pick up some litter while beachcombing, leaving the beach a little more beautiful.
Geocaching
Geocaching is a great activity if you enjoy hiking. Almost in every nature reserve you can find a route, where you use coordinates to search for a specific location. Often other nature lovers have left something here, which makes hiking (and tracking) even more fun. Also a great activity if you have a dog.
Old-fashioned game night
I’ll close with an activity almost everyone is familiar with – playing board games. Something that is even more fun to do during a weekend getaway. And to make it all a little extra exciting, you can buy a small prize for the one with the most points at the end of the mini-vacation.
