Did you know that there are all kinds of fun things to do in the Utrecht region in winter? How about a car puzzle tour along the Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinies! OpstapmetLisa got to try out the puzzle tour and it is definitely a must! Come outside!
Car puzzle tour from Gorinchem to Vianen
When we were asked by Vrijstad Vianen, part of Visit Utrecht Region, if we wanted to do a car puzzle tour along the Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinies, we immediately felt like it. This is really an outing for the fans of OpstapmetLisa! You can do it with the whole family, it’s adventurous, fun and also Coronaproof! Beforehand, we received a whole package of information containing the route, a car bingo map and, of course, the questions. On December 18, we set off. Unfortunately, the weather was a bit disappointing because it was quite foggy. But maybe that made the route even more exciting!
Get away from it all in your own country
For us, this region was completely new. So it really felt like we were completely away for a while. The starting point of the trip was parking Bagijnenwal in Gorinchem where we immediately came across a beautiful windmill. It is useful to go through the paperwork beforehand so there are no surprises. For example, it is advisable to take small money with you since you will take the ferry during the puzzle tour. Are you doing the car puzzle tour with children? Then download the diploma in advance.
Along the old forts
During the car puzzle tour you will pass several Dutch forts. These are very spectacular structures! We passed by Fort Vuren, Fort near Asperen and Fort Everdingen. The latter has its own beer brewery. These forts can also be visited, but unfortunately not right now because of Corona. Hopefully they can be visited again after January 14. Basically you do not have to leave the car during the car puzzle tour, so that is perfect in bad weather. But the surroundings and the forts are worth capturing on film. So take your time when you do this tour. Then you can also make a coffee stop (if the weather permits).
Navigating and puzzling
Navigating and puzzling at the same time is really challenging! Therefore, take it easy and stop the car from time to time so you can have a quiet look. Above all, let the children do the work! You will encounter narrow roads on the route so keep that in mind. Puzzeluitje’s car puzzle ride is highly recommended at this time of year, especially since many other activities cannot go on right now! The cost for this tour is between € 19,50 and € 22,-.
Our experience
What a fun activity this was! We enjoyed the surroundings, the forts and especially each other because we drove the wrong way a few times which was hilarious. It is more fun to do the car puzzle tour in better weather because then you can see more of the landscape.
